Really?  Do you have a link that says the S.E. will be 40 minutes longer and not the same as the extended cut currently in theaters?

I'd heard him say there were 40 minutes he could add, but never that he was intending to do it.

Read my previous post and the website I linked in it.  Cameron indicated that the 45 minutes of unfinished extra scenes would be included as part of the supplemental features on the upcoming special edition, not edited back into the film.

I'm uploading the blu-ray version now (it'll take awhile!).  Should have done this awhile ago, but I've been damned lazy lately.

I need to upload some stuff for my other edits too...then I can delete them off my HD and I can prep for my Matrix edit (which I'm going to go very slow on).

I wonder what condition those deleted scenes will be in.  Hopefully they'll get some finishing so some diligent editor can give us a 6 hour cut or whatever.

Btw, I finally finished the most perfect edit of Matrix that fixes everything wrong: I got rid of Matrix 2 & 3 from my collection.  Problem solved. ;)

The blu-ray of this edit is now available.

I finally watched the 3 hour cut from the new Collector's Edition.  Some nice new plot lines (frankly I liked some of the delete footage stuff better (like the romance subplot and the other avatars during the epic battle)), but also this is more bloat along with it.

Any chance on a v2 using the extendeder cut?  The expanded Earth opening works very well.  The original opening is a bit jarring in its pace considering how slow the rest of the film moves.

Some of the expanded stuff on the school is okay, but the Lorax book?  Sigh.

I think I finally realized what bothers me about Avatar the most.  It's sci-fi light.  It's the far future, but people still read printed books, play golf with plain old clubs and speak just like us while spewing the same tropes (especially the military).

While this probably made it more accessible to the less scifi inclined, it also makes it seem like crap to real geeks.

Anyway, so I'm just putting it out there, a request for an expanded source revision.

There will be a version 2 with some extra footage inserted.  The opening will be added, though I may remove the shot where everyone is wearing masks...I'm still iffy on that.  Kind of bummed I have to remove the voice overs again though.

I'll throw in the hunting scene, the attack on the dozers and the discovery of the attack afterwards.

I'm still undecided on adding the first school scene and Tsu'tey's full death (the latter mostly because I question why Jake is back in his Avatar body already after the damage to the station they were using...I'll have to watch that bit again).

I was a little iffy on that one too, but decided to keep it in my edit - I did, however, change the cut from Neytiri to the Navi in the woods from a hard cut to a soft transition between scenes to try and give a better sense that a little bit of time had passed between the two events (with the hard cut that Cameron used, it seemed like the Tsu'tey's death scene was occurring just moments after Neytiri saves Jack).

When I watched I actually turned to the person I was watching it with and asked if Sully was laying in his avatar pod with an air mask on or something.

Besides, I think the scene kind of blows.  The meaning of it was lost on me.  It just made the N'avi seem more backward (which frankly a LOT of the Collector's Edition footage does).

I think it would have been more interesting if Tsu'tey had let human Jake do the deed, or just bestowed human Jake leadership.

Oh you’re talking about James Cameron’s screensaver, not the 91 episodes of masterful storytelling. I’m out.
