Here is a subtle fx-correction made in the '04 DVD.

'77

In this shot when three Y-wings fly in a formation, one of the Y-wings suddenly disappear before going out of frame, this was finally corrected in the '04 DVD.

'04

Like all the other rough edges on some of the effects shots in the OOT, it's part of the movie and the time it was made, and I don't mind seeing these imperfections.

That said, if removing garbage matte boxes and correcting minor goofs in model shots like ^^ was ALL that was done to the movies, I could deal with those changes. Like the removal of the snake reflection in Raiders of the Lost Ark on DVD.

That is cool, let´s collect some money to get SW restored if Lucas is poor :-)

And yeah, the Gredo scene has always been like this on all my VHS releases as well, that shot where Gredo shoots was added for SE and has never been there before (and it looks totally fake too).

I know, I had already posted it, but it's perfectly on topic. It was made so quickly, like half an hour (that could've been shorter if I had a decent mouse), but I like it. And even if it's not entirely intentional, it reminds me of Lucas' dvd restorations: look at the colours, the fucked up contrast, the edge sharpening, the poorly photoshopped text on the sign (I didn't have a proper font to use), George's head looks almost like what Christensen's head looked on Shaw's body...

Hi guys, long-time lurker, long-time poster here.  I know everyone is down about this picture being the only one available on the upcoming Blu-ray, but has anyone in the Preservation Forum attempted to recreate the original picture?  An AVCHD of the picture would be preferred.  Thanks in advance.

Neither do I, and it's sort of a blink and you miss it. And at the time, the film wasn't made with pause and rewind buttons in mind.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

Can you also do a T-shirt for Indiana Jones that says

I especially love the 2nd one. It reminds me of Fahrenheit451 where everyone is responsible for memorizing one book, because they knew they'd all be burned eventually.

Fahrenheit1977.....?

If it's sourced from the GOUT then how can you know? The whole question was whether the GOUT itself was missing something.

I know because I've been a Star Wars fan for nearly 30 years- the GOUT was not my first viewing of Star Wars.

With all the long-time fans on this site, if something was missing from that scene, somebody would have noticed.......unless you're talking about this:

So I made a list of the major things to do that I could use some assistance on, or advice and suggestions.

To do list:

-Make SE-original comparison pics for all visual changes

-Media contacts information (any suggestions, leads?)

-Newsletter subscription script

-Need more 35mm scan examples (Belbucus still MIA with his pics, since he hardly comes here any more)

-Add more articles for the links page (suggestions welcome)

-Post original theatrical audio files

This last one here is a bit of a grey area. I don't want to bring down the wrath of LFL, but at the same time I feel this is sort of safe because its only fan-created audio captures that require you to buy an official product in the first place. I wanted to preserve these here so people can hear them, but also as a handy resource for fan preservations, no need for people to dig through newsgroups or ask people to post material. I'm struggling with where to host them though, since the files are huge and are legally in the grey. I was thinking of splitting them across Rapidshare. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about doing this? I still need to collect about half of them anyway, but I'm trying to figure out the logistics of how to do this first.

zombie, I don't think posting full audio mixes is a good idea. I recommend just clips that show the differences.

There's a site that has many of these clips already: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/russdawson/mono/

Maybe you can just link to this, or possibly get permission to host the files on your server.

Hmm, true. Maybe a way to go about it is to host them through a torrent site, so that if people search they can easily find them. Is there a sort of "audio package" already out there that is sort of the equivalent?

I think it would be really helpful to have samples of some of the most obvious changes so that people can see the difference.

well, other than the mono and the 1993 mix, its not about differences in sound effects, its more about mix levels and dynamic range, kind of hard to make comparison clips for some of these. My goal was to preserve the actual mixes themselves in a central, accessible location, or if someone else did I could simply say such and such exists and people could find it themselves.

True. I've told people about the 04 mix, but you have to actually go and show them how bad it is.

I'm with Eric on this one.  Full audio rips might be a little too much. A few clips to show the more glaring differences are all that should be necessary.

The site looks incredible and reads very well indeed.

The ideal companion to the petition (hopefully it will get more signatories off the back of what you have done there).

Great stuff.

Good breakdown of the GOUT. It might be a good idea to find a way to define that term earlier in the piece, since it could be confusing for those who don't know what a medical condition has to do with Star Wars.

And I noticed in the numbered paragraphs that describe the GOUT's problems, there are 2 number sixes.
