AVCHD to DVD

I need to convert AVCHD to DVD but as I've never worked with SD DVDs apart from backing up with DVD Shrink, I have no idea what would be the best way to go about this. I'd like to create motion menus for the DVD and if possible, I'd prefer to use freeware. Thanks for the help I'm confident I going to receive as OT.com has never yet failed me in this. :-)

Install DGAVCDec and Avisynth.  Open your M2ts and save as Your Project.dga.

Avisynth script.  Paste this into notepad and save as: Whatever.avs

LoadPlugin("Your Directory Structure\DGAVCDecode.dll")
AVCSource("Your Directory Structure\Your Project.dga")
Spline36Resize(704,480)

Open this in HC Enc.  Set your bitrates and check 16:9.  Add 3:2 pulldown and encode.

For freeware and animated menus your best bet is DVD Lab Pro, which has a fully functional 30 day trial.  Make certain all your work is finished and you have your animated menu movie and everything ready before you install the trial, so you can finish your DVD authoring in the 30 days.

I understand.  I just mentioned preparing before installation, because it important to do everything in the 30 days, as this is the only free (for a limited time) DVD maker to make high quality animated menus and, for that matter, reliably-authored DVDs.  Once the trial is over, you really have to buy a product to do what you want.
