^I have a television screen but it hasn't received an outside broadcast since it came out of the box (I just use it and rarely then, for DVDs and Video Games etc). I gave up the haunted fishtank/idiot's lantern/moving wallpaper, etc around 2001ish.

It is strange when at Christmas and I am plunged back amongst the afflicted to have to be in a room with a set farting out if strange parlance and garish imagery. Christmas soaps and adverts are the strangest things of all.

The other weird thing is how some people imagine they couldn't live without the box (I guess panel would be more descriptive these days) and gasp in horror when I say I don't receive broadcast television (I didn't even have a telly until about two years ago and watched and played via my laptop and a huge collection of connection devices).

I'm pretty much frozen in time when it comes to jokes about television adverts.
