I really don't have anything to say in retort, I just wanted to use that line somewhat in context.

I'm thinking tonight I might show my wife your MMPR videos, I think she liked Power Rangers growing up, she might enjoy them!

Good!  My female demographic over the past two weeks has dropped from a respectable 9% to a paltry 7%.  I really need to boost that somehow.

I don't want to read about you boosting any of your female demographics... but I bet Darth Solo does.

Mighty Morphin Kakurangers

The new video is finally up.  And what a square peg in a round hole scenario it is!  A five ranger team, a liability with the color pink, three sets of mismatched, out-of-sequence mecha...  My head spins at how they tied it together cohesively.

But at least everything ends well enough... MASSIVE EXPLOSIONS!!!

Thank you, thank you.  ^_^  Yeah, I wasn't aware that YouTube had extended its time limit to fifteen minutes, and I didn't feel I'd be able to squeeze a decent conclusion into 20 seconds, so I just decided to make the finale into its own video.  Plus, I love ending on a good cliffhanger.  Or at least a funny one, but I guess you know that if you've seen the Batman and Robin videos.

I really liked the "Gotham on location" shoot you did. You didn't actually find where they filmed that stuff, did you?

Not that I know of.  I happened to be vacationing in Santa Fe, New Mexico, when I was making that video and realized that it looked very much like "Gotham City" did in the serial, so I decided to take advantage of that.

Oh, and the thing about it being hot was a total lie.  I was in the mountains.  It was freezing cold despite being late May.

Ha, not that anybody but doubleofive seems to care at this particular moment, but I feel like I need a sounding board to figure out the direction I need to go.

So... yeah.  My Power Rangers series was supposed to end after the last one, but I ended up not having enough time to bring things to what I felt were a satisfactory conclusion (stupidly not knowing that YouTube had expanded its time limit to 15 minutes).  So suddenly having a fifth video on my hands, I decided to run with it, expanding it into a much larger entity than it would have otherwise been, briefly covering the next three seasons/series, which I consider to be the third evolution of their method of adaptation:  updating yearly with the Sentai but still continuing the same storyline.

I've actually written, filmed, and have done quite a bit of editing on this one already, but now I'm beginning to have second thoughts or at least concerns.  As I've stated before, my knowledge of things past... eh, the beginning of Power Rangers Zeo is quite limited as I'd stopped watching the series by this point.  Linkara's videos have been a godsend for me to figure out just what the hell is going on.  My knowledge of the corresponding Sentai is even less.  Zyuranger is the only one I've seen all the way through, and that was before I got the idea to even do my own series of videos on the concept.  I've watched a lot of Dairanger and Kakuranger but only enough to get me through the subsequent videos.  And now I'm suddenly doing three series at once... granted in a much more cursory fashion than before, but it's still been some overload.  And I wonder if I rushed into this a bit too quickly.

Also, I've always tried to find a balance between giving out Power Rangers knowledge and giving out Sentai knowledge, and I've never been entirely sure which my audience is more interested in.  As for me, my two main through lines for this series have been, "How did Power Rangers adapt Sentai?" and, "If you want a detailed plot summary of Power Rangers, that's what Linkara's videos are for because that's not what I'm doing."  When I bring up plot, I try to do so only when it's relevant to the production.  That's why Zyuranger Part 2 had a heavy focus on plot because the Zyuranger plot heavily influenced the Power Rangers plot, and it was necessary to know both to understand it.  And that's also why Dairanger and Kakuranger weren't covered as in-depth:  their storylines had little do with the adaptation, but I tried to cover it where it was relevant/interesting.

But now I'm wondering if I've swung too far the other way and am not including enough Sentai information in this one.  I am catering to an English-speaking audience who are probably more familiar with Power Rangers and are more interested in learning about the Sentai, so I've been trying to add in a little bit more about it.  And I feel I'd be amiss without mentioning the historical context in which Ohranger and Carranger were created, ie. the sarin gas attacks on the Tokyo subways on March 20, 1995, as that event shaped Sentai, which, in turn, would affect Power Rangers, so I think I'm going to go back and record a bit on the subject.

Aaaand... now I just need to make sure it doesn't become a huge, bloated mess, so I might excise some material as well.  Bleh.

If there was a question in here, I don't know what it is.  I just needed to write these thoughts down.

A Mighty Morphin Sentai Conclusion

And with this, the series finally comes to an end.  After a month and half of countless hours of watching Power Rangers and Sentai, and after just under an hour's worth of videos, I have reached my conclusion.  So if anybody mentions Power Rangers or Sentai to me for a while, I might just vomit.

As always, comments, critiques, etc. are welcome.  Hopefully all the information was accurate.  These particular series aren't exactly my area of expertise.  Thanks for all your support, guys.  To those with more refined tastes whose interest I lost during this series, hopefully I'll pull you back in in the future.

Phew.  After this I think I'll be taking a short break.

Except maybe for Wonder Woman.  I'd hate to leave that one hanging for over a year.  =P

Certainly glad to hear it.  This one probably was the most difficult of the five.  I'm curious.  Did you ever get Mrs. doubleofive to watch them?  If so, what were the effects?  Did it inspire feelings of romance and happiness or, conversely, psychopathic rage, apathy, or frustration and tears?

I'm usually not one to force my wife into doing things so the conversation went like this:

Me: "You used to watch Power Rangers, didn't you?"

Mrs: "No, not really. Why?"

Me: "Cause this guy on the boards made some videos about how they used Japanese footage to..."

Mrs: *stares at me like the huge nerd I am*

Me: "Maybe later then."

Haha, I certainly had no intention of trying to get you to force her.  You had just said earlier that you thought she'd been into it.  Looks like you were wrong-o, buddy.  So now if I should ever be in a position to meet your wife, she'll already have this terrible, terrible first impression of me, and it's all thanks to you.  =P

So being the down on myself creator that I am, I always meticulously rewatch my videos to find any flaws, and I must say that, while I usually never put too much emphasis on the plot, especially in this installment, I'm downright appalled at how little weight I gave Zordon's death.  Not that I've actually seen Countdown to Destruction I admit (or any episode of Power Rangers IN SPAAAAAACE!), but that was the capstone of ending the direct continuity, and, "Oh, he died," was pretty much all the weight I gave it.  What the hell, me?!

He had already died like three times (didn't he die in The Movie too?). Don't beat yourself up over it.

Haha, yeah, I totally couldn't resist that.  Whenever I hear that title I always think of "Pigs in Space."  That and "Limozeen:  But They're in Space!" from Homestarruner.com.

When I would see the theme song for the show, every time it ended, I couldn't help but hear Teeg Dougland go, "I'm afraid I have some bad news, boys.  You're in space."

I usually first think of JEWS IN SPAAAAACE! (Mel Brooks, if you don't know (or couldn't guess))... then I think of Bowies in Space... then... well, that's probably it.

Haha, yes, I have indeed seen History of the World Part I (still waiting on that sequel, Mel).  Not sure why that particular reference doesn't stick out to me more strongly.
