I would never edit using the original codec of a Blu-ray or DVD as it can cause a lot of problems. I always convert the video to lossless avi using the lagarith codec.

I won't be using any deleted scenes off the blu-ray for ESB:R no matter what scenes it may contain because for one it won't be out in time and secondly i really don't think ESB needs anything added and the SE is a good example of that. ROTJ:R may be a different matter altogether though

Ady, you said you convert to Lagarith... I've found that Lagarith gives me weird glitches. You don't have this problem? Or have you learned how to remedy it? It always gives me a frame here and there that wigs out. So I often stick with HuffyUV.

I get the same problem, but only in Windows 7 64bit. I also found both HuffyuV and Lagarith a real %*$£"£! to install in 64bit.

Ady, you must have stacks of hdd's to do your work with lossless avi editing, which must be a real annoyance to work with. I speak from my own experience of course.

Still running XP, 32 bit... Had no problems installing, and I never have any problems with Huffy. Just lagarith.

"I won't be using any deleted scenes off the blu-ray for ESB:R no matter what scenes it may contain because for one it won't be out in time and secondly i really don't think ESB needs anything added"

^^ Makes sense. Plus unless those deleted scenes are inserted into the movie chances are their quality wont be as good and would stick out like a sore thumb.

Yeah, I couldn't edit lossless AVI in a million years. My computer can't even properly play lossless AVI in 1080p, let alone edit. It's sometimes anoyingly slow even when editing compressed video and Vegas crashes all the time when I attempt doing anything even remotely demanding on the CPU...

Huh. And I was just about to tell you guys that the SW saga is being released on Blu-Ray in fall 2011 (same time frame as Avatar: The Legend of Korra, incidentally), but I see that it's old news now.

I assume you mean scenes like Luke building his lightsaber?

Ady: When vader tries to hit Luke before they go to gantry vader hits the walls while they are walking out the small hall. The explosions from the vader's saber have a small delay from the actual hit. Will you fix it?

Okay so this is my first time posting here, and I've been curious about how how all the holographics/screen displays will be done on this.

Are the majority of the displays (with 70's graphics) present throughout the film going to be updated with more modern graphics akin to the PT?  Are you planning to change anything at all with the MF's interiors?

And concerning the prequels: I know that the PT will be made to look more like the OT when you eventually get to it; but I don't really get the gist of it.  Are you planning to do color correction on the screen displays to make them look more old or worn out, or are you going to be adding in entirely new displays from your craft?  Will the holograms be kept the same or will you incorporate your own?  What are you thinking to do when you plan to make the interiors look more like the OT?  I'm sorry if these questions are too premature right now but if you have the basic idea yet, could you elaborate on these things?

Thanks.

Now although I entirely support Adywan's vision for the prequels in terms of story and character development, I just hope that he's not thinking about inserting old 70's monitors and knobs everwhere since I think that that would not fit well in the PT unless he decides to re-do everything.  All I would like to see are the holographics being toned down a bit to match the picture quality of the original and the display screens being color corrected or composited to make them look not so video game-like.  But if that's what he intends to do, then fine.  I'll take story over flashy visuals any day.

EP3 made the Star Destroyer monitors look just like the OT.

Yes.  That's the only thing in the entire PT that incorporates that.

Adywan, may we have some shots of how the updated displays look like in this?

I was talking about adding scenes when someone asked if i would be using any of the deleted scenes from the Blu-Ray set.

I've never had any problem with Lagarith in any programs. HuffyuV on the other hand gave me all sorts of problems in Premier and Vegas. I'm using win7 64bit and had no problems installing it. Are you using the 64bit version of lagarith?

I really can't see why the Falcons interiors need changing at all

As for the PT, displays need downgrading along with the holograms. These films are supposed to take place before the OT yet they seem to be more advanced. They did attempt to tie in the displays in ROTS but it was too little too late. These displays need to look more old style.  I didn't say i was planning on making the interiors more like the OT, i have said that i want some of the CG backgrounds to look less like a video game and more realistic by using real miniature sets

Yes, that would be great.  You should replace some of the planets in the background with matte paintings if you could as well.

I always thought an easy way to explain the more advanced look of the PT would be that things deteriorated under the Empire.  Of course that only works if you don't watch the SE...
