Who care about the audio codec used when it won't be the original versions of the movies. That should be the reason to boycott the release, although Matthew Wood doing the sound design means it will be pretty awful anyways, regardless of DTS or Dolby. He remixed star wars in 5.1 on the 2004 dvd and it was shit. So bad that a fan had to sync the 1997 laserdisc ac3 to the DVD,lol.
So who was responsible for the Audio since the first 85 remix?
Like the music editor, the mix supervisor. Burtt is the sound fx guy.

As far as i am aware Ben Burtt works for Pixar now as a sound design guy. So it makes sense Wood is his replacement.
Now if they could just keep him away from film/video editing. LOL.

Adywan if you’re on some type of mediation I’ll go a bit easier ...
I think you'd definitely need some yourself. Welcome on "ignore" where you've found a place to rest in my imagination ! :)

Well, unlike you humans, my ears do rotate 180°. ;-)
No big deal, I've trained to catch cats in silence all my life. :) ... Perhaps a gift from some meditation attitude. ;)
Interestingly, The Hong Kong BD of Red Cliff has 7.1 Mandarin tracks encoded with Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HA MA and uncompressed PCM on the same disc! I cannot help thinking that this is a waste of space, but someone obviously disagrees.
I have a hard time hearing a difference between lossy and lossless audio to be honest.

I have the same issue. It might just be because I don't pay enough attention, however.

Sorry, what were you saying? :D
For those of you complaining that JT34 is upset about nothing important, and that the basis on which one buys or does not buy the Blu Ray should be whether it includes the original version, or not and not whether it is in DD or DTS... please consider the following:
1. I concede, as have many of you, that we will not get a proper OOT release again until after Lucas's accidental and untimely death.
2. JT34 is almost upset enough about Blu Ray and DTS-MA that he would single handedly arrange an accidental and untimely end for the plaided fellow (see point 1).
3. Almost isn't going to do it folks.
I conclude my case.

Careful xhonzi, if you keep misspelling J T34's name, he might put you on ignore.

Its like bread its like milk if I went around the corner with you’re money and brought you the wrong bread and milk, lets see how upset you’ll be!
Its like Dolby and dts its like milk and bread or two brands of each milk and bread. I prefer DOLBY is that too hard to grasp.
Its like do you want you’re cup of tea swimming in sludge of sugar that would taste like dtsHDMA to me! I don’t want the extra sweeter of bits get it!
Its like toast do I want it kinder tanned like DOLBY or charcoaled to crisp with dtsHDMA no I want it tanned like not overdone.
Its like will the bits improve my lifestyle on dtsHDMA. No I want DOLBY TRUE-HD because its me that is paying for the product for my own home personal entrainment, but oh, no the studios are above us “the paying consumer” and the customer is always RIGHT!
Only the originals from the 70mm six-track Dolby stereo Dolby format 42 will sound better on DVD/Bluray.

Ok, so I go to the store to buy DTS bread but they only carry Dolby bread. So I go down the street to another store where they sell DTS bread...oh wait, no one makes DTS bread. Now what do I do?
I know what I don't do - I don't log on to originalbread.com and bitch in the forum. But hey, that's just me.

For those of you "wondering"* about originalbread.com, this is the closest I could find.
Does it have a new new role playing board?

I'll bet this place does:
I don't have a Blu-Ray player/HDTV. Was gonna invest if the OOT was coming out as part of the set.
So i guess now i won't bother. Thanks for saving me some dosh Mr Luca$*

*By the way George, "It's a very, very expensive process to do it," is just a mystifying reason to omit the Original Originals from the set. You're a F***ING BILLIONAIRE, man! Get over yourself & give something back to the fans for Chrissakes! Your stubborn revisionism is a kind of mental illness, just as our love for the OOT is a kind of mental illness - but we are RIGHT and you are WRONG.

Wow no wonder many Star Wars fans get a bad rap if conversations like this keep degenerating into bickering - insane!!!
Would somebody like to educate me what difference it makes over which audio format is used for Blu-ray? Surely if either is lossless then it's just a carrier, and makes no difference in the final analysis. Sort of like comparing FLAC with ALAC? Not looking for a fight here by the way, just genuinaly intrigued.
Ta!
P.S. Adywan - I don't think he was taking the piss out of your clip - I think he meant it's "funny" as in the rebels are in a dire place as it is in this scene, and all of a suddenly hundreds of TIEs appear out of nowhere making it even worse for them - you can imagine the pilots mouthing 'oh crap' hahaha! ;)

You are right. Bickering really should be avoided. As to the audio, lossless should mean lossless, so I do not think anyone can educate you there. :-)

Uh-oh...here comes another J T34 rant...
Hmmm, not what I was hoping for.
I'm starting to wonder if I should stick around for the end credits or leave now and beat the traffic.

You could just rant about the greatness of dts and how it completely obliterates dolby.
...if you really wanted to... :)

Ooh, like a Mystery Science Theater thing? I like it!
Hello everybody! New here. Im also a SW OOT purist and will not buy the blu-ray discs if the OOT isnt included and given the right treatment. Right now I have the OOT in VHS format and dont have a problem keeping them. Ive never owned the SE-OT on DVD (due to GL's insensitive tinkering) and have only the PT in standard DVD format, but rarely watch them.
