Need some artwork, anyone interested? — Page 2

As I told you D_J, Quad like covers may fit your theatrical restoration set like a glove... Just a mock up... Not too much to add though than "theatrical edition" + "Dark Jedi"? next to the logo, and refresh the film credits with High res ones.

The original shot isn't huge resolution (here it's at 33% and a little sharpened to show it here) but it is the only shot I know of this painting with its true colors. The best RotJ poster imo.

Possible that the image as it is displayed here is a little cut on the right.

That is nice and colorful, but one suggestion, leave "Dark Jedi" off the covers, I do not want my nickname or any others on there, that is just my preference.

I like the art to be for the project only.

Thanks for the mock up.

ESB QUAD Syle B... (Perhaps the best thing I've done with an ESB poster...)

I like, but I will definitely have to get used to this style, I have never seen it before, so you are gonna make a couple different designs? if so, GREAT!

Looking good ABC!

I never seen Quad-style covers excepted on a manga perhaps. It also may remind us these old video game covers for cassette computers. But I think you have bad habits ! :)

Well, a couple of differerent design when I'm inspired and when I have the material, why not. There are not great material for Jedi just so you know. And if an Art in particular for one of the films has your preference, just tell it.

...so are you going to put these on sideways, or is the art going to be on the back of the cover?  Because it looks like those are your two options.

The more you will add as imagery, the more you will kill these... Mostly when they are so rich and different in colour the same time.

PS: it is possible I have not understood your sentence. But the arts are for the front anyway. I never understood why you seem all willing to avoid the film credits on the front. If film posters would figure exactly as they were made at the moment of the releases for theater on DVD covers I would personnaly don't see what to change.

Your first mock-up will have the art on the back, not the front.  That seems weird to me.  The second will have no title on the front.  This also seems weird.

And "Original Theatrical Edition" will be unreadable because it stretches across the back, spine, and front.

Unless you plan for these to be landscape covers instead of portrait ones, and these are all only the "front."

Now you've got it. ;) (I didn't understand)

I inspired myself from the famous (to me) british quad posters. Not only I think they are most entertaining, they also fit well with a "theatrical" feeling.

D_J has shown what the one I prepared for the IE gives, in the current preservation thread (though this one is not inspired from an existing quad poster):

See, just for ref:

... Yeah I know, the 2nd one was a bad reproduction (surely because they needed to prolongate the art).

SW Quad (original) - style B

Did I say I won't touch these this week ? Well, I lied... :)

Anyway, I also tried vertical classic covers:

I really need the specs for the backcovers now D_J, otherwise I'm blind. The only text I will put apart from these are the OP crawls.

And just as a note about the resolution for these ones... At 100%, with no sharpening (the original sources are even bigger - credit to Msycamore for the ESB one):

That Star Wars one looks pretty cool, nice colors.

LOL you added more before I posted, the ESB vertical cover looks SWEET! I LOVE ESB.

and I will get you the specs soon, I have to make sure everything that I want on this set fits, plus I am still waiting on material from other people so I can't even test them until I have everything.

ps. Will you be making quad style and vertical style covers? if so THANK YOU MUCH.

Yeah, those quad really give the feeling to be waiting at the entry of the theatre.

And yes, I'll make the two formats availabe: these are not just mock ups, excepted for the RotJ ones they' re all done and in high rez. ;)

Yeah me too. The original msycamore sent to me is really like a huge "master tape" for working. I haven't found a better one on the net and believe it isn't currently available anymore, even though there are still good ones. That's the best I can bring for your project and I color corrected it the minimum I could not to spoil it.

BTW, I had another mock up. But I don't like too much cropped arts. I surely won't finish it:

I sent you a PM with the DVD specs for all 3, but as I said I am still waiting on things before I can even test and finish, so hopefully nothing changes, I was hoping to have SW and ESB done by now so I can move on to sync'ing the audio from the LD's for Jedi.
