Is that going in the final edit!?  That would be awesome!

So far it seems like feedback has been generally positive toward the new voice of The Good General, even if the clips I made public aren't part of the film per se...

I was always kinda reluctant since I didn't really know professional voice actors willing to take a stab at it, but how's everyone feel about maybe hearing the Gungans in Episode I-III in English?

Now that all 6 films have been announced for Blu-Ray with new deleted scenes, I can say that "The Clone War" will definitely get a complete overhaul when the BR comes out.

I'm not sure much was missing from TPM that I would add to "Balance of the Force" from the screenplays, but there is tons of things from "Episode II" that I wanted to integrate that were not on the dvd.

Also several of my favorite parts of Episode III were not on the original disc, too, so those scenes will probably go in as well.

Anyone who ever wondered why the changes to Episode II were less drastic than the changes I made to Episode I, you'll probably find out why next year.

I'm guessing you're being intentionally vague, not wanting to tip your hand too soon, but what deleted scenes are you hoping to have available for integration? For Ep II I'm aware of an additional Jedi raid during the Geonosis battle, as well as various quick little character bits of dialogue, but what specifically do you have your hope for? C'mooon...

Ideally, "The Lost 20 Scene", a leaked early draft of the script has additional Jar Jar scenes with the whole diplodect thing (which I would dub and rewrite), there was a scene where a ship made the jump to hyperspace (like in the OT) which was cut, there was a little scene with Anakin and Padme's dad, there was the whole subplot with the original Threepio puppet that Padme finished putting his platings on while Anakin was looking for his mother, there was also a little more Owen & Beru with Padme, and there was more to the Yoda/Dooku duel where Dooku was using 2 sabers and still couldn't hold off Yoda, which made it much less a stalemate and more of Dooku desperately saving his ass moments before Yoda was going to take his head off. I remember Yoda's last line was something like "The end this is for you." right before Dooku pulls that pillar down on Obi-Wan & Anakin.

I don't really know what will be included and what won't, yet, other than being fairly certain that the "Lost 20" will be, because it was the scene most bitched about not having been on the dvd release. And of course it will kind of depend on how good the scenes are that are included.

I've seen the additional scene for the Geonosis Battle in Episode II with incomplete effects and it was nothing to write home about. They had it up for download on Hyperspace a few years ago.

With Episode III, I'm hoping they include the earlier scene where Obi-Wan goes to visit Padme, further establishing their friendship, and the scenes of Anakin percieving a love triangle that's not there, which Palpatine of course eggs on. If you read the script, there is a lot of closeted Anakin jealousy toward Obi-Wan that was cut out early in the film.

Is it wrong that I really hope they haven't finally gone back and completed the Liam Neeson scene for Episode III? (it would really take the piss out of something I already did that I haven't released yet)

Oh and of course there is the digital Yoda in Episode I, so I'll probably go back and add that to "Balance".

Sorry, but I absolutely hope they lure Liam Neeson to do some ghost shots! Though I'm sure what you've done is impressive in its own right...Do you have any teaser material...? *nudge nudge*

Ah, I'd forgotten about the Lost 20...yes, that would be worthwhile....

I couldn't really do a video teaser without just showing the scene, but here's a still captured from it:

"How to commune with him, I will teach you."

And of course, I would really like to see them complete the real scene... It's just a case of going, "Dammit, I JUST finished this scene!"

Ah, I hadn't thought of it there! I had imagined it occurring during the deleted Dagobah scene....any spoken lines?

Where I did it was a bigger pain in the ass than I thought since that last shot is a close up of Yoda, so I basically had to paint in the rest of the background (desk, chair, walls) and rotoscope Obi-Wan out of an earlier shot.

There is some spoken lines by Qui-Gon in the earlier scene with Yoda meditating, adding a little more clarification to the prophecy and sort of turning what one would have assumed the Force's motivations throughout the prequels were on their head.

I initially had an earlier scene where Anakin and Qui-Gon interacted and I really liked the scene, but then later when we hear a call back to a Qui-Gon line from Episode I, I found that it makes that scene confusing, because it seems like Qui-Gon's ghost is speaking to him, rather than him reflecting back, so that scene will probably end up as a deleted scene.

A couple rough test clips to have a look at.

In the original Star Wars, George Lucas intended to dub over Threepio with a sleazy used car salesman personality with a Joe Pesci brooklyn accent. We decided to do a little homage to that with this English dub mock up of Jar Jar Binks. The mix is still rough, some original Jar Jar sounds remain and one line is missing. This is more of a mock up to test the voice out.

And a mock up Dub giving the Viceroy a little European flair and giving Dofine an almost Skeletor sound to his voice. They still bare a slight resemblance to the original English dub. One of the Neimoidians is not dubbed and the sound mix is rough, not as smooth as the actual edit.
Just an experiment to see what people thing of seeing the characters speaking English.

The jarjar one sounded more professionally done. And the dialog changes were nice. But it struck me as a little to "earthy" and colloquial for an alien, if that makes any sense.

The niemodians were a little rough. I'm not sure that accent works for them. Have you thought about trying to come up with some new niemodian sounds based on the sounds made by the duros creatures in the cantina?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I *love* Jar Jar's new voice! It gives him a new aspect to his character and a an edge, but there's still a recognizable hint of the old voice, an homage, almost...Can't wait to hear more! I understand reservations towards "earthiness", but that's a little unavoidable...besides, Jar Jar ought to have a more specific accent fitting his rather, er, specific character.

I'm less enthusiastic about the Feds' voices, it's an interesting take, but I personally would picture something a little more sinister in their vocal character.

All in all, I'm loving taking fan editing to the next level with voice actors and dubbing! It's quite exciting thinking of the possibilities and new story avenues afforded by it. Now on to Anakin and Padme!

Yeah, at first I was hesitant at a voice with an accent and then I remembered that all the Imperials sounded British, Watto was Jewish, the Federation were flat out racial slurs against Asians, and the original Jar Jar was such a stereotype that he might as well have said "Yessem Massa, I be pickin the space cotton" before beating up the tar baby for not responding when he said "Howdy."

There is certainly a precedent, especially considering its the accent Lucas has often described as his vision for what Threepio should have sounded like. And at least the voice is just an accent and not flat out offensive like some of the aforementioned.

Why did I wait so long to see those?!  Very cool!  If Jar Jar Pesci stays, he might become my favorite prequel character.

That's some really cool voice acting. Joe Pesci as Jar Jar feels strangely appropriate, somehow. :)

However, one thing I loved about the original Balance and Clone War edits was the fact that they spoke various languages but perfectly understood each other. It added a badly needed OT feel to the scenes. Jar Jar was suddenly more, well, Greedo-like. I do see the need to have MAIN characters speaking English (as several here have pointed out), but you shouldn't rule out subtitles even for important scenes if it feels right.

(Not sold on the Federation voices, but they're still an improvement. I think you could go further with the General too. I actually enjoyed the Grievous voice mockups someone (can't remember who) did with a more classically robotic voice. A welcome change.)

PS: I LOVED Balance and Clone War, btw. Seeing those the first time is still the only time I've enjoyed the prequels (apart from TMBTM's silent film edit).

A late commente: I REALLY hope this comes to fruition. Those voices alone would make me re-watch The Phantom Menace.

I'm still really interested in the planned new versions, and episode 3. Has anyone heard from him recently? The last twitter update is from late August.
