I think it's relevant actually. Gary Kurtz had a different vision from GL that was driven more by story and strong characters and more importantly made sense (Kinda like our Ady here... ^^).
I think had Kurtz been the one to win out with the direction of ROTJ that Luke and Leia WOULD NOT be sibling, and Han (as noble of a character he becomes at the end really doesn't have more to offer in the way of character development) would of been killed off adding to the desperation during the battle of Endor, and the Falcon as it relates to Han as well would of gone out in a blaze of glory destroying the second Death Star. Showing that in all war even Star Wars, sacrifice is apart of freedom.
