One of the other movies we rented but have not watched yet is Shutter Island because my wife remembered that you said you liked it.

Rented because of xhonzi or haven't watched because of xhonzi?

Hopefully you (she) likes Shutter Island so I don't lose any cred with the Mrs. 005.

If the flimsy evidence I recently unearthed is to be believed Ziggy doesn't like Shutter Island (not enough songs and dance numbers possibly).

I watched Salt last weekend.  Considering I had no idea what it was about, other than guns, agents, blowing up things and starring Angelina Jolie... I actually really enjoyed it.  I enjoy action movies with a plot.

Still think she was sexiest as Lara Croft...

Watched Shutter Island last night. Not much like I expected, even though I knew what was going on. Disturbing at some points, but not scary like I recall the trailers being. Overall, not bad, like it, but the music at times was a bit over the top. After finally seeing Mark Ruffalo in a dramatic role, I still don't think he can play Bruce Banner in The Avengers. I don't think he has the "inner demon" capability in him. But that's neither here nor there.

The night before we watched Rock Star. After getting Shutter Island for 75 cents, the lady up front said due to all of our discounts, we got a free older movie rental. We wandered around the store, but my wife hates spending time in there (apparently when she was younger her mom would just stand around in there, never really making a decision). Eventually I just grabbed this and said we're getting it. Mark Wahlberg, Jennifer Aniston, what could go wrong? Recently I've been on a Mark Wahlberg kick. Even if the movie is bad, I can count on his mannerisms to make me laugh. And you know, I think we actually liked Rock Star. The soundtrack was cool, it was funny, it had the guy from Third Eye Blind for some reason. While iTunes labels it as a Comedy, I've noticed, its not particularly, but I think its at least worth a free rental.

For some reason I have always had a really hard time equating her with sexy. Not sure what it is about her. She just doesn't have a pretty face to me.

You're choosing to not see her as sexy.  ;)  (<- wink)

Sheesh.  Everyone is born knowing she's not sexy.

I really liked Shutter Island unitl the ending. felt like a bit of a copout.

music at times was a bit over the top.

iirc, the music was all sourced from other movies, so that is probably why.

They talk about the music being over the top in an interview I listened to with the Screenwriter.  She explained the intent, but I can't reproduce it here.

I rather liked the ending Of Shutter Island.

It's still possible to read the film either way which is a refreshing change from most films like that which have a predictable 'twist' ending wrapping everything up.

I liked the ending of Shutter Island much more than the ending of Inception, personally.

Overall, Inception is the better film, but it's the one that had a cop-out ending, IMO.

Cruising managed to avoid the cop out ending.

Cop out had no choice but to go with the cop out ending.

A film called Cop Out is damned if it does (obvious) damned if it doesn't (obvious twist).

They should have called it Copped Off.

I recommend watching the TV show it's based on, The Thick of It.  It's hilarious, better than the movie IMO.  Many of the same actors appear in it, but only the Malcolm character is the same in both the film and the series.

Don't bother. It is absolute rubbish!

The only benefit you will get from watching it is that you will be "in" on all The Office references the young hip witty whippersnappers make in order to invoke laughter amongst their peers. But really, in order to achieve that all you need to know is "that is what she said". There you go! I just told you ever single joke ever made in The Office. Now you have no reason to ever torture yourself with another lousy episode. You can thank me later.

Oh, wait, you said that that other show was trying too hard to be like "The Office", not that you were trying hard to like "The Office". Damn, even at 1:30 in the morning with a slightly altered state of mine the commonly accepted internet practice of replacing "too" with "to" throws me off!

Damn CP3S, are you getting Social Security checks yet?

I watch The Office because it's funny.  Er...well...I used to watch it because it used to be funny.

I have yet to find the US version of  The Office has lost any of it's charm and ability to produce contextual facepalm slap injuries (I prefer it to the original series).

In The Loop was ok but The Thick Of It is painfully funny in the same toe curling 'I can't believe they just did that' sort of way.

Malcolm Tucker is the world's second funniest comedy bully (next to Jamie McDonald in the same show who is even more hilariously aggressive).

Just started to watch "The Thick Of It" tonight. It's brilliant!

Last film seen: "A Hard Day's Night" I've seen it over 100 times now, and it never gets old for me.
