Can someone PM me the info for ANH, TESB, and if it exists, ROTJ?

Just for anyone else reading who is tempted to ask, adywan's ROTJ does not exist.

There are many posts like this.  People simply do not read the first page -- it is not just you, JediTray.  :-)

As Episode 1 has been available for a while, would it not be a good idea to change the thread title to:

"THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available" by adywan

That might help.

I agree - I've even been asked about ROTJ over on faneditforum.

Actually, I read the first page, but was confused by later posts talking about ROTJ.  I was under the impression that work began by Ady, but then it kinda got lost in the posts and I wasn't sure if the project had been completed.  At any rate, it's all good.  :)

I can confirm that AVCHD's work on my Sony BDP-S360 in the U.S.  I watched TESB (had to get that one first) via HDMI on my LCD Sony Bravia and it is brilliant!

Is there any cover art available for Ady's TESB AVCHD?  The art that was included with ANH is great and I'd like to have something similar.

Shit.  Why me?  I have burned three DL coasters now of Ady's ANH AVCHD.  The beginning skips and doesn't recover until the title crawl is already underway.

TESB came out just fine, aside from a little nip off of the beginning of the Fox Fanfare and a series of small white lines appear at the bottom of the screen just after the Star Wars logo and before the title crawl.  I'm guessing it's because the title crawl was from a different source.

Is there some kind of frame rate problem going on here or what?

Very frustrating....

I have never heard of the problems you describe with ESB.  ANH was encoded with a frame rate of 24 fps, which causes problems on some players - especially Sony and Pioneer players.  There is a fix earlier in the thread.  If I can find it, I shall edit my post.

edited - This is the procedure.

1. Load the AVCHD into tsmuxer and demux the audio.  Keep tsmuxer open.

2.  Use Besweet to convert the audio from 24 fps to 25fps.

3.  Load your new audio file into eac3to and convert from 25 fps to 23.976 fps

4. Import your new audio file into tsmuxer and check the option to convert the video (24000/1001).

5.  Check the AVCHD radio button and start muxing.

6.  Burn your new AVCHD with Imgburn - UDF 2.50.

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately BeSweet and eac3to won't work on my Win7 64 bit system.

Now what?

I do not know.  I have no experience with Windows 7, and cannot imagine how to perform this conversion without Besweet and eac3to.  If I can find time, I shall convert the audio for you and upload it; then you will only have to worry about the video.

edited - I do find it strange that you have problems with ESB -- no matter how small.  What program are you using to burn the AVCHD and with what media?

Thanks.  Any help would be great.

I used ImgBurn 2.5.1.0 and Memorex DL DVD+R.

Imgburn is good.  Memorex discs are awful.  The best dual-layer discs are Verbatim from Singapore.  Sony are not bad.

I shall let you know about the audio. :-)

Don't recall what "REPACK" meant in the volume name . . . scroll backwards in this thread near that timestamp, and it might be explained
.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Either way, I have uploaded the re-encoded audio, so that should save JediTray some hassle.  PM sent.

Thanks, downloading now.  I apologize for my ignorance, but what exactly do I do once I have the files?

Use tsmuxer.   If your source is an ISO, you might have to mount the ISO with Virtual Clone Drive, before you follow this procedure.

  1. Open the m2ts stream by navigating to the Stream folder, which is inside the BDMV folder, in the AVCHD.
  2. Uncheck the audio streams, then import the AC-3 file I sent you.
  3. Check the option to convert the video frame rate (24000/1001).
  4. Check the AVCHD radio button and start muxing.
  5. Burn your new AVCHD with Imgburn.

In answer to the other question you sent via PM, it is not necessary to do this for ESB because that is already at the correct frame rate.

edited - I only just followed Darth Mallwaker's link.  Forget my statements about the repack.

Thanks very much, Chewtobacca.  :)

It worked like a charm and the ANH AVCHD by Adywan is now flawless.  WOW!

I suppose I can live with the glitches on TESB, but the editor/perfectionist in me hopes for a fix at some point.  The best film deserves the best playback, IMO.

Many, many thanks to all you fine gents that helped me through this (new to me) process of making AVCHD's.  Perhaps I should make my new improved ones available to others via torrent if they're interested?  Or maybe that's a no-no for these?

If you have a media player, you could download the big MKV.  The glitches might be a result of burning or the media you used I suppose.  Do you verify your discs before burning?   It is always a good idea.  I suppose you could try again with different media, but whether it will help or not I do not know, because I have never heard of this problem with the AVCHD of ESB.

there is a 1 frame glitch on ESB during the title crawl but it's only small. I don't know what caused it because it isn't on the master but that is the only glitch & the fox fanfare isn't cut off at all.

Is the glitch just on the AVCHD, or is it on the MKV too?  I have never actually noticed that one frame.

I do have a media player, but for the MKV I would rather burn it to Blu-ray.  I have BD-R discs already and am waiting on my Blu-ray burner to arrive.  I have NO idea how to do it or what software is required (the burner will come with NONE), but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.  If the MKV will mean that at least one of the glitches will be gone, then I am all for it and eagerly await the links!  :)

I always verify my discs, and like I said, my numerous burns with the same media yield perfect results (DL DVD's and such).  Sounds like I'll just have to live with the glitches, at least until I am able to burn Blu-ray.

That seems a little strange to me, as unless your Blu-ray player can play mkv files, you will probably have to transcode the MKV to make it Blu-ray compliant, resulting in a small quality loss.  Still, it is up to you.  :-)  You can find the MKV in the same place that you found the AVCHD.
