Thank Moth3r that's very helpful.  I find out the discs do have digital sound...will be nice to have but process is going to be tedious and costly.

If you mean capture the video at the same time you are capturing digital audio, that wouldn't be a problem (haven't done anything yet).  If you don't mind sending your guide it would be great to have.  Actually any recommended guides for capturing laser for 1st time would probably have something I can use.

Another thing I've been wondering about is what I to expect re: playback reliability of used machines?  Mainly consistent playback speed, since I'll likely be combining video & audio from two different units.  Do I have to consider calibration (assuming I can find someone that will even do it) or are things likely to be "close enough"?
