Much like how GL told Tartakofsky (sp?) that they needed to include his character Asajj Ventress in the animated Clone Wars series. The CL creators did not create Asajj, they just introduced her.

Boba Fett was planned out by 1977. He was supposed to be in ANH, but the footage was cut. Remember the 'Irish Jabba'?
The footage was later restored and modified for the SE release.
