Perhaps I am attributing some of Mr. and Mrs. 005's excitement to you. My local friend who also bought a copy of L4D2 said he played a little more on his own and is starting to be of the opinion that 2 is "orders of magnitude" better, just like a lot of those people on the internet.
Maybe I just need to play more. And to stop attributing things to C3PX that he didn't say.
Well, don't get me wrong, I expressed a lot of excitement for L4D2. And I remember putting quite a lot of pressure on you to buy it. I excitedly bought it on day one, and have clocked more hours on it this year than any other game by far, I am sure. I absolutely love that game, and still feel all tingly inside when I think about it... err, so yeah... it is an awesome game. I am not putting it down so much as I am building up the first one.
The fact is the first one is a really, really good game. And the second on is a really, really good game, with some really neat features the first one didn't have. Kind of weird, seems like since Valve decided to make L4D so soon after the release of the first one, there has been a bit of a rift in the L4D community. On one side you have fans who whined about the second game coming out too soon and what a terrible thing it was Valve was doing to them and that they felt cheated and screwed over and so on; then on the other side you had guys who had played a lot of the first one and loved it to death and were really excited about the sequel. Ultimately, you ended up with one side standing firm in putting down the second and saying, "See, it is pointless and just like the first!" and the other side touting that the second one is light years better than the original. I really don't fall into either group. I was excited about the sequel and never for a second felt cheated by its announcement, and I never felt the sequel to be justification for tossing out the first one and never playing it again.
As for playing L4D on Friday or Saturday evening, I think one day will work as well for me as another for me. However, my plans are subject to change at the last minute. I'll plan to be there, but there is probably about a 50% chance that something else will come up on either night.
What the frink, man? I thought getting together soon was you're idea?!?!?
I know, I know, I just can't help it if I am THAT cool and have so many people demanding my attention on a regular basis. But whatever day we decide, I am going to try my best to blow off all offers and spend my weekend at home playing video games with you guys. See, I love you guys that much! However, there are a few people in the world, one in particular (no, sadly, not Gaffer) who I love just slightly more... and they get first dibs on my weekend evenings.
