First half of Dark City. How did I miss this one? Excited to see where it goes from here.

Dark City is pretty good. I love Kiefer Sutherland in it.

Am I reading that wrong, or is your wife really weird? Does this mean she only watches movies that leave the viewer in the dark?
Also watched Sherlock Holmes. It was fun, and I could really see where the show "House" got its relationship between House and Wilson.
H & W... House and Wilson, Holmes and Watson... coincidence?
I guess I liked the RDJ Sherlock Holmes. There wasn't much I didn't like about it, but I felt rather 'meh' about the whole thing. Strangely enough, I felt excited to see a sequel after it was over, despite the ambivalence I generally felt towards the movie.
I made my wife watch Shutter Island with me. Good movie. A few inconvenient parallels to Inception, given that we watched them a couple weeks apart and that they're both DiCaprio movies.

Definitely. Love Dark City. That one, however, fails my wife's "evil little kid test". She just can't stand it.
Probably why she can't get into BioShock either.

What I meant was that she doesn't like watching mindbending movies that she already knows the answer to. Memento was the example she gave last night as another movie she liked but wouldn't watch again.xhonzi said:

Slightly off topic but if you Holmes fans get a chance I'd recommend the BBC's new contemporaryish (alternate universe without the fictional Holmes) updating called Sherlock.
The first episode A Study In Pink was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to where it is going.

Which is written by Steven Moffat, current showrunner of Doctor Who!

Ah, yes... you said, "like that" but I read your statement too quickly. To answer my own question, I was reading it wrong.
Which reminds me... my wife has never seen Memento.

It was nice to catch a few in house cross references.
I'm hoping they filmed a scene near Earl's Court tube station (a modern functioning but old style looking Police Box would be a squee moment).

Kill Bill parts 1 and 2
*SPOILER WARNING*
just how does someone survive being buried alive after having been shot with a double barreled shotgun?
I also seriously question how 1 person can manage to survive a sword fight against 88 people(all at once)
perhaps I'm viewing the films too seriously?
The Kill Bill "buried alive" segment was debunked by Mythbusters. Fun episode.
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
^Pure force of will I guess going by what's gone on before (there is real real and there is in universe real and in terms of Kill Bill real will is the deal, so chill).

the "buried alive" sequence I can take, but surviving after being shot by a double barreled shotgun???? That, I can't take.
The shotgun shells were loaded with rock salt. As in, the salt you pour on your driveway to melt ice. Not buckshot. (Michael Madsen's character mentions this at one point. And yes, it is possible to do this - I've heard of farmers who use this method to "deter" trespassers without killing them.)
It won't kill you, but it'll burn like a motherfucker. Like how pouring salt on a wound hurts? Well, in this case, the salt MAKES the wound, then sits inside it.
The 1998 Argentinian film Tango. Drama, musical and art film. Good flick. Weird, but good.

Dude, Little Sisters are NOT evil! That are awesome, adorable, and sweet. They are hard little workers just carrying out the tasks they have been conditioned to preform. They may look creepy as hell, and the task they have been given may be a little morbid, but if one just looks beyond all that, they really are wonderful little girls. "Evil"... pah!

Topaz-interesting but flawed. Needs original ending out of all three choices. And I just can't get enough of the scene where Juanita dies....how we miss you Hitch.
The Masque of the Red Death-I adore Poe and Price. This is the most vibrant of all the Poe series. The DVD is worth it for the full 2.35 frame and sumptuous color. (such a jump from years of VHS) It's so nice to see something that looks fantastic done for no money. Plus it was shot by Nicholas Roeg.
The poster art is just awesome.

Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door. Im not sure what put me onto it as im not fimilliar with the background to the real story or the book about it. What starts off as a coming of age tale, ultimatly left me feeling VERY disturbed. I DO NOT recommend a casual viewer see this without researching the film first, as i did.
Next in line for me is A Clockwork Orange...
The Seven Samurai.
