First of all, this post isn't about Inception, but you did see it so I'm chosing to be lenient.  But that doesn't mean I read it very closely.

Aliens - 1986 Theatrical Cut.

But those scenes absolutely kill any and all suspense that you get when the Marines reach the base.  There's no what the <bleep> happened here moment in the viewer's mind because, well, we already know what happened.  No, we weren't shown how the colony was completely wiped out, but we know that an alien was definitely brought in, and we can quickly connect the dots from there, so we can come up with a pretty good idea of what the Marines are going to find when they go into the colony.

I guess I don't understand your point.  The movie title, "Aliens" doesn't already give this away?  What suspense is there supposed to be?  Is there, perhaps, going to be a different kind of alien, and this suspense is ruined because we already know which alien will be there?

I guess the suspense in the movie doesn't come from not knowing what aliens might have been brought to the camp... but how the marines are going to fare.  They are extremely confident, and we aren't sure if they deserve to be.
