I personally am more in favour of making the Ewoks a more realistic alien culture, removing the forced humor around them and beefing up the Rebel and Imperial forces (essentially keeping the elements as described in the story but fixing them so they work) but that doesn't detract from my interest in edits like this one jot.

As for the Luke/Leia brother/sister relationship it doesn't really bother me so much as it gives a hint that the story could continue in your imagination but it just doesn't on screen.

What I object to is that it's too obviously convenient both as a cap on the now dead 'other' plot strand and for the love triangle problem, not necessarily because the new plot element is there but because of the way it's handled on screen.

Vader the father was introduced to complicate the plot and give the saga something extra to build on. When Lucas lost interest in Star Wars Leia the sister was thrown in to cap the plot and finish the saga quickly and there are only so many of those things you can throw into one film (Jabba dead, Fett dead, Yoda dead, Vader dead, Emperor dead, Empire apparently dead, oh and Leia is Luke sister too). The audience needs more chewing time before swallowing all that.
