Here's a thread to discuss the character known as Count Dooku who also goes by Darth Tyrannus.

its okay to discuss Ep3 spoilers, but please post a warning before you do so those inclined to avoid them can do so easily.

I think Count Dooku should have lasted through the majority of the movie. He's a much better antagonist than General Grievance. General Grievance is almost as bad as Captain Pitiful.

we havent seen grevious completely. from what i saw inthe cartoon thou he seems very cool. he has a persona we havent seen b4. a supert warrier that goes and kill the enemy captains himself.have you notices how most of the villians in SW dont do things like this papi stays int he shadows as the sith lord until he knows that it is perfectly safe to come out. vader is cool and decided not blood thirsty. same with tarkin, dooku is just and idoit. and maul is all attack no talk. that is what set gevious aside. he has the best of both worlds.

I'll give him a fair chance and wait for the previews, but there's one thing you need to keep in mind. What looks good as a cartoon doesn't necessarily translate well into live action. I still think Industrial Light & Magic screwed up big time on the Hulk. I still like the series, but I hated the movie.

same. but i to tell you the trueth i didnt like teh image of gievious in the cartoon, then again it may have just been the style of animation. i dont like that style very much.

The official sw.com database puts grievous above dooku in the power-o-meter - this outright wrong. What a waste of christopher lee's talent. I hope he doesn't "go down like a punk" as well.

i think Dooku should have been in all prequels...
Darth Maul was a waste of screentime and GG looks like something out of Pokemon...

Dooku had a much more dark and threatening look and personality...
his voice alone rules...

too bad hes gonna be offed as well as GG...
so thats 3 villians dead.. in 3 movies...
what a waste of time that could have been used on story or character development

even if they kept maul in TPM Dooku should of been on the council and had a few lines. Then when he shows up in ep2 it would of had a lot more effect, and there is certainly no need for grievous at this late stage.

The main problem with Dooku is that he had such a complicated set up that was handled all offscreen and then there is no real pay off to it.

What could of worked well while maintaining the basic structure of the prequels is to have Obi-wan be the one who wants to train Anakin and Qui-gon the pessimist. Then when Obi-wan is hanging on the thing in the reactor shaft Quigon emerges and takes out Maul. Qui-gon is badly wounded but will recover (got love sci-fi medcare) but as a result he has seen the power of the darkside and is dienfranchised with the republic.

then in Ep2 it would be really powerful to have Qui-gon be the one leading the seperatist.

Just a random idea

i dont think qui gon leading the separatists would have been such a great idea.

I'm just waiting to hear that Christopher Lee's scenes wind up on the cutting room floor like they did in ROTK.

And to add insult to injury, his death will be listed as a postscript (P.S.) in the crawl. Ouch!

Christopher Lee plays a great bad guy. I liked his character best of all those in AOTC, and I thought his acting was the best too, not that he had much competition there. Most of the others were just O.K. I love that lightsaber of his aswell, I'm hoping he has a large role in the next one, but obviously he does have to get killed off somewhere along the line... as do qui gon, padme, all the jedi... and do we finally get to see Jarjar's head cleaved from his shoulders?!?! Say Yes!!! Please!!!

"Master Anny? Wassa you doing with thisa light saber? Meesa..." *sound effects: whoooosh... thud...*

I think Anakin is going to kill Count Dooku in Ep3 as a test to complete his tranformation to the dark side. Just like how Palpatine wanted Luke to kill his own father and turn to the darkside.

I really did like Count Dooku in AOTC, but I hated that lightsaber duel with Yoda. That was just stupid! The choreography doesnt even make any sense when Yoda is jumping around like a monkey and Count Dooku is just swinging his saber over his head like he's fighting an imaginary character. There's one instance that makes me cringe, and that's when Yoda jumps on a rock behind and above count dooku's head. Why didn't Yoda just cut his head off while he was up there instead of jumping around? Poor work on behalf of the animators.

THAT IS ONE OF THE POINTS THAT I MAKE IN MY "THE OT IS BETTER THAN THE PT" ARGUMENTS. IN THE OT WE HAD A DEFINITIVE VILLIAN THROUGHOUT THE TRILOGY. IN THE PT WE DON'T. YOU COULD ARGUE THAT THE PT HAS DARTH SIDIOUS, BUT IT WOULD BE A WEAK POINT AT BEST.

i really like that idea about having dooku on the counsil in TPM. that is a great idea, maybe he'll put that in when he makes the Ultimate edition.

why should Dooku be on the council, they never mention that he has been on the council.

ok and hat is not great. quigon was awsome and they said many times that quigone coul dhave been ont he coucil, secondly any one that can hold tehre own against yoda ans beat both anakin and obiwan at the same time has to be a great jedi.

Well, he was. From everything the expanded universe has on him, he used to be a great Jedi Master. So once upon a time, he was Jedi Master Dooku, master then and now of the ultimate lightsaber form, Form 2. For more on him, the databank entry on thefore.net is really good, which is at the following link.
