Episode IV
A New Hope

1997 Special Edition

Hybrid DVD5 made from ( REIVAX + Flunk ) sources
Video is PAL anamorphic
Audio is AC3 2.0 Dolby Surround 192kbps

It's mostly REIVAX, with Flunk bits replacing REIVAX's hard French subtitles.
Flunk DVD has no subs -- neither hard nor soft. So this DVD has none.
*MAYBE* the subpicture stream from LFL 2004 DVD could be muxed in,
and might stay sync'ed acceptably well. (I don't have '04 PAL to try with.)

This whole project is admittedly Lo-Tech.
Womble all the way, baby. And MuxMan.
Shirley, you didn't expect me to re-encode video on my Pentium-!!! did you?

-Mallwalker

GKar edition could probably be patched the same way to remove any German bits. Flunk was encoded for DL, so higher bitrate, but if one stripped GKar's fake 5.1 upmixes it might fit.

Chapter stops are based upon my reel change list.
Too bad the negative reels don't exist anymore in that format :(

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Womble is perfect for this kind of project.  Thank you, Darth Mallwalker.  :=)

It would be nice if someone could re-up all the '97 SE broadcasts, I had them all but it seems the DVD's I have had gone bad, now none of my drives can read them, I keep trying, I would love to make a NTSC version of the '97 and sync the DD 5.1 to them from the LD's.

So if anyone has the other broadcasts and would like to share please PM me.

and as far as subs go, I will just add them back in with the right font.

Been waiting for the ROTJ 1997 SE to hit alt.binaries.starwars for over a year now. It's the only one that I liked and felt benefited from the 1997 Special Edition treatment.

Patient times. ;-)

Want an AVI ?
It's ~1.4GiB with 5.1 AC3, presumed to be an upmix...

Got 'em ripped OK (media code RITEK/R03 burnt 2004)
ESB is 50% smaller than the others, dunno why
Look for 'em in the wee hours of Zulu time

Might see the old *.torrent file and wonder WTF?
Remember, it contains SHA1 hashes.
You can bet I've already checked 'em, but you should too nonetheless

Not sure I even want to know the true identity of 'fudgerepacker'
nevertheless, that posting earns the Mallwalker stamp of approval.
That is to say, its CRC value match the file posted by Flunk himself back on 2006-05-21.
fudgerepacker is NOT a fuckwit factor

Are these files passworded?

"SWarsIV_SE_DLayer_Flunk"

It looks like they are, and no NFO with password, do we need to stop downloading or does someone know the password?

Author

could be a corrupt download somewhere if you are getting a password error.  Sometimes winrar incorrectly displays that message when the problem is a corrupt rar archive - even if there was never a password set on the archive set.  Is there an Md5?  Those are invaluable...

well all files had the little lock on the lower left corner of them but it never asked for a password, and all files checked out OK, so good to go.
