Some interesting ideas there Yoda1138. Still seeing the interlacing problems. You say you are working in premier, well make sure you de-interlace the footage first and don't use an interlaced preset for both your project or your output because youtube really screws with interlaced footage. The lasers when the AT-AT destroys the generator will be totally different than they are now. In fact i don't think that there will be an original element left in those 2 shots. It's going to be a lot different but i'm not going to be giving anything away ;)

As for when the At-AT falls i won't be adding any kind of shield effect. These beasts are heavily armoured so they don't need shields and adding the hint that they have shields wouldn't make sense either. Why give something such heavy armour that it can deflect/absorb laser blasts then give it a shield? And if they had a shield how the hell did Luke manage to penetrate it. I know someone will probably say something like the shield only deflect laser blasts so Luke could pass right through it but that's the sort of EU explanation for things that i really can't stand. You'll just have to wait and see how i get around the armour problem.

I got to admit i don't like the idea of the rebel cannons being in any way similar to the ion cannon. If you think about it it really makes no sense. One ion cannon takes out an entire stardestroyer in a couple of blasts by disabling its electrical systems. So a few shots from a smaller scale one could surely do the same to an AT-AT. So why not blast the shit out of them until it screws their electrical systems and they would be dead in the water. I actually like the rainbow effect as it makes them look different, but i'm certainly not going to be making them green either ;) The 2 different colours of the start up blast for those cannons has been fixed also.

Adding the flaps to the existing models is a pretty hard task so i doubt i'll be doing anything to the speeder shot you mention ImperialFighter.

And the background really have never bothered me in 30 years so i can't see myself changing them now. Thats a hell of a lot of work for something your really shouldn't be looking at in the shot anyway. Using CG to change those backgrounds just won't work and the rotoscoping involved is huge. So i'm leaving them as they are. The one thing i did change in the speeder search was adding clouds to the background where the speeder passes close to the mountain side because all other shots it shows a cloudy sky but this one was totally cloudless. But that's all i'm prepared to do with that scene. Same goes for the Hoth battle too. If i attempted to fix continuity errors with the backgrounds i would never get this edit finished. Again i have never had a problem with this

And you say that the backgrounds are repeated in the speeder search causing a mess? none of the backgrounds are repeated. yes you do see what looks like the rockface that was seen out of the front window but it isn't repeated as it is a slightly different angle and a lot closer, and who is to say that over the other side of the mountain range the rockface isn't similar? There are no others that are similar or repeated and it certainly isn't a mess.

Ady, how's filming and model-making going?

Things have stopped at the moment. I've got to take it pretty easy so i'm not doing anything related to the edit for a good few weeks at least. Once i've been back to the doctors for more tests i will know more on when i can get back to things.
