I don´t think it´s crazy... :) Stuff like this can be very good or very awful pretty much based on how it´s delivered, I think I would never give the Special Edition too much thought if it was not for some scenes that had only a few seconds or even frames on screen but are enough to make us cringe in horror...

On your idea, I once imagined a scene like that but at the end of ANH, it was prompted by some discussion here on the forums which I think involved the reaction of the Emperor to the destruction of the first Death Star.

I was actually inspired by a post-credits cutscene of Rebel Assault II, this scene would enter just before the Throne Room ceremony and would show Vader, still on his fighter, reporting the Death Star destruction to the Emperor who would dismiss that as a "little setback". Then, after a short external view of the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, we´d see the Emperor contacting Jerjerrod and informing him about Tarkin´s demise and how he expected Jerjerrod to do better. Finally, cut to Jerjerrod as the Emperor ends his transmission and he walks towards a star destroyer window, in the distance we see Endor and the second Death Star in very early stages of construction... :)
