Defying even my own expectations, I'm back with a new nitpicky over analyzing series, wringing all the fun out of a '90s children's classic!

EDIT:  And to just toot my own horn a bit (eww), I'd like to mention that I just passed 100 subscribers!  Oh, wait.. I meant to include that in my video...  Maybe if I hadn't been right at 11 minutes I would have.  Oh, well, maybe next time!

This review was relevant to my interests! Since I found out that MMPR was basically stock footage from Japan (I didn't notice until last year maybe that Trinity became a man when she morphed), I've been curious as to how they did it and what else they changed. Leave it to Gaff to answer my questions before they could really be asked!

An excellent review, as usual. I can't wait for Part 2, as the Green Ranger and his Zord were the only MMPR toys I ever had.

And, yes, I agree.  Part 2 is what I'd been looking forward to the most, and really why I started this series in the first place.  As much as I enjoyed Part 1, it also felt like exposition hell because I really wanted to get the general stuff out of the way and move to the specifics.  But I just wrote the script for Part 2 last night, and I'm glad with how it turned out.  I just hope I don't have to trim it down.  It covers a lot of material.

Guess I was too old for Power Rangers (so why do I still feel so young now?) when they came out, I vaguely remember minimal exposure to it, but never really watched it. I even got one of the VHS tapes for my birthday along with a few of the toys from some relatives, and remember being disappointed in the gifts. I took the toys to Toy's 'R Us and exchanged them for Jeffery Dollars (think that is what they were called), which I in turn turned into Star Wars crap no doubt. I think I gave the VHS to my older cousin, who strangely, I remember was really into Power Rangers.

At anyrate, regardless of my lack of interest in the subject being reviewed (as was also the case with DBZ) I throughly enjoyed the review. You've definitely got talent in that Gaff.

anyway on the subject of Geekiness i too enjoy most of the things xhonzi mentioned. Except we have Syfy over here.

Ive been trying to get into anime too for years and so far the only ones i really like are:

Applessed Ex Machina (A glorious 3D cell shaded type animation woohoo!)

Vexille (same style as above but a bit boring....might be worth a fan edit as the action scenes a pretty good)

Ergo Proxy - Must have been a TV series i think but only 12 episodes, really good - post apocalyptic, dystopian and a cool yacht (boat) that can sail across land??

Thats it---basically given up, Ive downloaded Batman Beyond and gonna se what thats like.

As for comics, Ever tried 2000AD? (Brit based, but heard its available in USA) - Judge Dredd, ABC Warriors, Rogue Trooper, Slaine & Strontium Dog are cool but theres loadsa other titles nowadays.

DOh! I cant watch Utube at work, so i'll check the reviews later, shame theres no Princess Leia turning into Wonderwoman but anyway....

I think Fink knows pretty well when he is over stepping his boundaries. He knows that derailing a thread like this would be a rather rude thing to do to Gaff.

Hmm, I could have sworn he'd done it at least once.  Not that I'm complaining.  When I'm trying to promote a new video, it's nice to have people interested in that, but any reason to keep the thread alive is appreciated, so I don't mind the occasions when people are just goofing around in here.

I was too old for power rangers too - but maybe i would have prefered zyurorangers or whatever!   

Also saw your review for return of the jedi! wow, yup! totally agree the han rescue sequence also completely ruins the impact of the intensity and pain that confronts our beloved heroes during empire strikes back... by having Han rescued near the beginning of the following film....  what were they thinking?

Better to just announce that Han was rescued by Luke Skywalker in the opening crawl and have good ol han back in the very first scene. At least then they could have made a more focused film.

YES!  Haha, I love Zyuranger... at least, Bandora.  So much cooler than Rita.  I gotta wonder, why does every group who EVER starts the series stop subbing it?  I really wanna see past episode 7!  The Green Ranger's story, while I've never seen it, sounds way more interesting than Tommy's... although, like everyone else, he was my favorite growing up.  Power Rangers was a bit before my time, so how do I know it?  Simple!  ABC Family ran it weekday mornings, and whenever I was sick I'd make it 4 parts of the way through a 5-parter... and be ready to go back to school.  It happened to me with Wild Force, AND Green With Evil.  I never found out for sure how Tommy ended up working with them until I... eh-hem... found the episodes.

Youtube's being annoying so I'll try and upstage Gaffer here rather than his youtube page. BKEV TO THE RESCUE!  The footage is codenamed Zyu2, and someone has kindly uploaded what he knows/believes to be much of said "new" footage on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/Zyu2.  You'll notice that a few of these videos have only the monsters intact.  This is because Saban ingeniously was able to splice in the new megazords from later seasons into these(particularly here Zyu2) shots, by panning away any time one side got hit via a generic reaction shot.  Some episodes you never see the Zords clash at all at the same time on-screen.

And define spin-offs... Super Sentai is a yearly thing, where - much like the Power Rangers - you can expect a different series every 1-2 years.  Most upgrades, except for the temporary ninja suits from... season 3?, are just more stock footage.

You're not upstaging me, you're just... tossing out SPOILERS!!!  Sheesh, kev, where's your decorum?

And, yes, the ninja suits were from season 3.

OK.  Man, that guy who played Tommy is way more fun when he's evil.

Alright, I need to share my Fusion Syndicate video review idea:

Take a movie you've loved when you were younger, but haven't seen recently, lets take "Goonies" for example. You watch Goonies again and see if you enjoy it as much as you did when you were younger. Have another reviewer who didn't grow up watching "Goonies" watch it and find out what he thinks. Compare and contrast.

Just throwing it out there. I'm trying not to rip off ThatGuyWithTheGlasses, but its hard.

I haven't seen The Goonies yet!  I even have it on my DVR, I think... if Gaff would be willing to cooperate with me that'd be lots of fun.
