Or you can show Ming and his friends trying to shoot imperial troops that are deploying from the crashed walker like i suggested in an old mockup. and then the speeder comes and blasts the cr@p out the walker it will make more sense(?)

Hi folks, Havnt logged in for a while, forgot my password but i found it.

Question, wondering the score on why the addition of troops here? I like it, just missed the topic?

So, it led me down a line of thought, especially as someone mentioned about the neck being exposed/unshielded.

So I had an idea for a suggestion... After the AT-AT falls, but before the Snowspeeders blow it up.. How about a brief "De-shielding effect" on it. Kinda like when predator de-cloaks from invisible. But briefer and more subtle, but enough to show that its shield was more than just tough metal. (Not talking Droideka here mind!)

It kinda bothered me how its fall made it weak with no visual explanation. (As did Vader in ROTJ when he threw the Emperor down the wishing well, not enough Damage time to Vaders suit/controls before he dies)

That's kinda where I was trying to head on page 739.  Prepare to be "schooled" from the Wookieepedia.

I still think it's a good idea.

I've been working on ripping some sound files taken from Star Wars: The Interactive Video Board Game.

 Thanks for the files, fredstar!

On a somewhat related note, I have the OT "Entertainment Utility" that LFL released back in 1995 with all the cool sounds, phrases and video clips.  The sounds are WAV and the clips are AVI.

If it is needed, please let me know and I'll set up a torrent.  Be advised that since it is from 1995, it is most likely that you will not be able to install it.  However, all you need to do is browse the disc for all the goodies.

Please do! I'm collecting sounds for my edit, and since fan-files.com is down, there are limited places to find any.

Would that be this CD-ROM? If so, I have it also :-)

^Holy crap, I have that too and forgot all about it!  At the time, I couldn't think of anything cooler than having my computer boot up and 3PO announcing "all systems have been alerted to your presence."

Too bad it constantly crashed my computer and I eventually had to give up on it.

If there are clean Boba Fett sounds on it, without Vader's breathing in the background, I will love you forever.

I don't have access to it at the moment...going off memory, the avi clips were direct from the movies, so they would have all the sounds from the movie.  However, I seem to recall that the wav files were isolated dialogue.

I might be wrong though.

I have that CD too (I think it was actually 2 CDs). There were many, many isolated sound effects and dialog.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

That CD-ROM doesn't look familiar, but I'm sure it probably has all the sound effects on the Behind the Magic discs, if not less. Haha. And if I could figure out how to get them off the discs and directly onto my computer 10 years ago (I was far from proficient back then), anyone can now!

Well this is how i have seen it since 1980:

The AT-At's have armour and not shielding. The neck is not a weak spot normally but when it crashes to the floor the neck fractures and therefore creates a weak spot which the speeders exploit. If the neck was permanently a weak spot then they would have just aimed for that all along.I have no problem with the AT-AT exploding so i won't be changing that

i decided against adding any ground snowtroopers because surely they would have picked off luke as he was about to destroy the Walker or as he was escaping. I was thinking of adding some deploying from the walkers towards the end though but i don't think we could get hold of any snowtroopers for the shoot

Storywise it wouldn't be that far-fetched either way, as troopers would be deployed when they got close enough to the trenches, which themselves weren't too far away from the hanger bays (not to mention that the Nazis the Empire was based on frequently had companies of troops accompany their tank divisions).

Regarding Luke, it could be that they don't notice him (as they are ahead of him) and/or they are getting picked off by snowspeeders, who are strafing them.

The real problem is actually creating the shot FX wise.  Even so, if it is FX wise possible, I think it would be a good addition to add snowtroopers at least getting out of the fallen AT-AT, as most sane people would not stay inside a burning tank while in the middle of a battle.

A good place to possibly show snowtroopers rapelling down the sides of the AT-ATs could be when you see the 3 strafing the rebel trench lines (with the newly added AT-ATs going down from the cable lines) or any of the AT-AT scenes "after" Luke does his thing (even if it is just "dots" moving along around the mid-ground to background fallen AT-ATs, something to show that the troopers are getting out).

______________________

Hell, for that matter, another possibility could be that you see small arms fire coming from the windows on the top of the back of the fallen AT-AT and we briefly see the side door starting to open (the impression being that the side door was damaged from the fall) and are just about to escape when the snowspeeder destroys them.  That way you would not have to actually show snowtroopers outside, but would create the illusion that there are snowtroopers inside the AT-AT before and during its explosion.

It could be similar to the "DS in the middle of firing- then explodes" shot from ANH:R (side door starts to open and maybe one snowtrooper is starting to get out as the snowspeeder blows it up - maybe take the spinning TIE pilot from the asteroid scene or one of the "flying orcs" from TTT attack on Helms Deep to signify the snowtrooper being flung off from the explosion).

They are  voiced by none other than James Earl Jones himself!

Enjoy.

Great idea! You have a list of what he says?

The only one I can remember is when he says that the last player is "Indeed feeble," which caused much hilarity.

It's a pretty stupid game though.

Repelling down the sides of an AT-AT... I don't know how many of you have been in snowtrooper armor but doing anything outside of walking and maybe a lil running if it's an open area, is dangerous for those guys. Furthermore, it is doubtful that any of the TKs I know of actually have previous training in repelling...

However, this could be faked by tilting the camera's axis and the snowtroopers kinda lean as they walk backward giving the illusion of a near vertical surface... even then... it most likely won't look like the real thing.

I am flashing back to my days of watching Adam West and Burt Ward do that on T.V. I don't think we are going for that feel with this.
