I don't remember what movie it was, but I bet if you asked me about it (because you just saw it, or something) I would give you the opinion I formed that night. Even if it's not fair.
Was it Anchorman?

I went to see a movie once with my wife. I hated the movie. Still do. Is that the fault of the movie, or did I take too much baggage into the theatre with me?
I Hope your wife doesnt see that comment!

That cheerleader sketch with Cheri O'Terri? I'm pretty sure that was in the theaters.
Are these movies you hate, Frink?

Negative.
Back on topic somewhat, I've found that I've been more impressed by movies I didn't know anything about. District 9, for instance. The advertising campaign kept things in the dark, and for good reason. I like advertising campaigns like that.

I never even saw the adverts, i must have been in a coma or something...anyway i thought it was ...ok...ish....was a bit surprised he pulled out the appleseed type mech towards the end - that totally rocked my world.
Infact if i did a fan edit of this movie - i would just use that scene and delete everything else...cant even remember a nice woman to save from being in this movie. Oh i would keep the mothership floating above johanesburg that was almost real looking!

Man, I remember how many of us on here had strong opinions on how "Star Trek' was going to turn out. I know that I went into the theater knowing I was NOT going to like "Star Trek" 2009. Funny thing is that I found it very enjoyable. The exact opposite thing happened with "Watchmen".
Another example was that I was expecting to LOVE "The Dark Knight". I was totally absorbed in the hype and publicity campaign on that one. Got my opening night ticket, and did the standing on long lines for hours bit. Yet, when it was all over, I hated the film! Not just disliked, but hatted. Now come to think of it, the same thing happened with "Episode 1".
So now after a few years, a friend asked me to watch it again. I reluctantly sat down re-watched it on Blu-ray. I'm not sure why, but I liked it so much more this last viewing. So much so, I ordered the disc to sit on my movie shelf. It sure seems that the excessive hype and publicity may have seriously hurt setting up the film for me. Some films you just need to discover without any set up at all.

And my point is this: we're not objective observers. EVERY movie we see, we see subjectively.
Pity VIHN isn't around anymore.

Exactly how i felt! the exact opposite experience to all the prequel star wars films....! although i do remember uttering "Now thats Star Wars!" as i left from seeing "Attack of the Clones" for the first time.
um....actually i wasnt that keen on the Dark Knight either but i like "The Dark Knight Remixed" By Jorge i think ..... its pretty clever what he did.
