you don't honestly think that statement could be regarded as offensive? If I had a friend or family member that died in 911 or Katrina, I'd know I'd be offended by such a statement.

How do you know I didn't myself? I did not. But I have lost people I care about, and I can say with perfect honesty and no offense to myself, that while their passing was upsetting to me personally and others who knew them, it had very little real significance to the world at large, let alone cause any sort of harm to the ecosystem or impact history.

I think it is kind of ridiculous to get into one of our political-debate-esque quote wars here. We obviously disagree on this, and now you are starting to get worked up, and I don't want you to get worked up. Honestly, if my opinions offend you so much, I am not sure what to do about it. I guess I could stop posting in threads like this and the politics thread, maybe that would help?
