Seems MOD2 is a fairly common abbreviation, but I just don't get it. What would MOD2 even stand for? Modern of Duty 2? MODern warfare 2? I just don't understand the logic in that shorthand.

This isn't directed as a complaint at you cutnshut, I am just pondering it, because through google I see it is used quite often and I can't quite get my brain around it.

MODern warfare 2....geez is it that hard??? :p

anyway, im thinking MW2/MOD2 would be cool to make a squad in and good practice for me :) im such a noob!

but yeah the time difference might be an issue, maybe from now on you could change your clocks to british time and that would solve all our problems :) I dont care if that means getting up to go to work when everyone else is just going to bed!! not an excuse i think. :p

Shadow Complex was definitely good.  I think that genre is not necessarily for everyone... but you probably already know if it's up your alley or not.

There's a decent demo.  It'll give you a good idea of the game.

Sorry me again... ill be quiet soon, I googled some screenshots on Shadow Complex and that might be my next purchase - thanks for sharing that!

Some of the Arcade games seem better than the full price big budget ones!! wow!

Also, the Monkey Island 2 trailer out of E3 was pretty cool.

Holy crap, we never talked about E3 here!!!  Any comments?

I'm still interested in the Kinect (Natal), but most of the games they showed didn't really wow me.  The hardware is cool and ripe with potential... hopefully something comes out that will really knock it out of the park.  I'm hoping it gets mainstream acceptance enough that "regular" games will start using it for head tracking.  That's my biggest hope for it.

A-ha E3...not heard much apart from seeing a few seconds of the Terminatrix/Jayne Pain whatever her name is posing infront of a wall covered in dodgy xbox wallpaper. I'd vote for her :)

Gah!  You only have 500 achievement points.  I'm sorry, but it's a little beneath me to accept your friendship.

Gah yourself!  You don't even have 2000 achievement posts.  I'm sorry, but it's nearly 3000 posts beneath me to accept your friendship.

Ah so thats what that number in the top left of the screen is, I thought it was how much xbox points i had - I was trying to buy something the other day and it said only 250 and thought i had been robbed.

Tho i have noticed the the number has risen from 465 since the start of the week - I got a few achievements in Halo ODST and Alan Wake.

And hey, i've not had my xbox very long!

Sooooo there :p

Edit: My mistake sorry if i confused - the achievement points are shown on the top right of my screen not the left as i originally stated. Apologies to all those i may have offended.

Despite his lack of smiley face or wink, I think Xhonzi was just playing around when he said that. I know some people have that attitude, but I don't see Xhonzi as that type.

When I first got my Xbox and only had a few achievements and looked at everyone else's and felt somehow inferior, I really hated the achievement system and thought it was a dumb competitive device. Now that I have a ridiculous large number, I don't even pay attention to how many I have. But I am not really fond of the system, because I have spend countless hours online with good friends working toward the goal of getting achievements together long aftet that game has been beaten and would be no longer played. Adds more life to a game, and gives you fun extra goals to go for. Some achievements I don't even bother with, because they'd take too much of my precious time, but plenty of them are slightly challenging and add a bit of extra fun to a game.

I had a great time finding all the Halo skulls with my friend, and even more fun recently working on Left 4 Dead 2 achievements with another friend. It is a good time for just chatting and having fun without actually having to worry about being too good at the game. One on one online co-opable achievements are my favorite.

Yes, I had actually already sent him a friend request when I typed that.  I knew he wouldn't take it seriously, but I guess I forgot that other people wouldn't know for sure if I was serious or not.

I was dead serious.  xhonzi is not my friend until he posts at least 3000 more times.

Thats ok it didnt stop him from sending me a friend request - haha!

The only thing i dont like about achievements is i cant remove the games i dont like anymore - someone might look at my list and and think that ive got a lot of RPG's on the go, but truth is ive tried a lot - got a few achievements for each one and taken them back to the store to swap for something else!!

For you guys that play Halo - what does the exp they award for mulitplayer do? does it increase your health or shields? - as a noob does that mean im very unlikely to kill someone who's higher level? or is the amount of health and power of the weapons stay the same? that was really annoying in Battlefield Bad Company 2... (i think)

When i play mulitplayer i want everyone to be on the same level and just your skill at playing the game makes you good or bad.

Hope you understood what i was trying to ask? im sure there was a shorter way i could have worded that but its near the end of the day!...

Halo works the way I think a multiplayer FPS should: everyone is one equal footing. A higher rank means that you play against higher ranked people. No perks, the people who kick your butt are just better at playing the game than you. It really comes down to map knowledge. The more I played, the more I could figure out where the people were going to be and when. I was still never very good...

I've never understood why CoD and so forth reward you with perks for already being better than everyone else. I appreciate that MW2 gives you reverse perks for sucking, but I already gave up on that franchise.

Think I have eleven left. I'll never be able ones where you have to beat it on expert. Played the other night on advanced with two of my friends who I feel are pretty good at it, and I don't think I am half bad myself, but we totally got it handed to us. Even if we had one more good live player I don't think we could have done it, and we are talking about just one single finale here. To get the expert achievement you have to beat every single campaign, and each campaign has to be done in one sitting. Not going to happen. :(

We'll figure out how to do it. Man, Expert is so much fun! I've never had a more fun time losing than I do when I'm mobbed by zombies. Something about it being an evil AI Director kicking my butt, instead of a 12-year old on his parents' couch.

That Director was a brilliant idea. Not only does it randomize your experiences, but it gives you someone to blame. Instead of blaming Valve for making a hard game, you blame the AI Director for not ALLOWING you to win. You know you can outsmart it, you just need to figure out HOW.

Thanks this is just what i needed to hear, I'll probably like Halo then - and sounds like MW2 could be just as frustrating as Battlefield - i'll prabably just stick to single player on MW2 then and the co-op play.

Oh, I just saw you had 1000... I guess there are more for the DLC?

The EXP/Skill on Halo 3 is just for bragging rights.  And there's an achievement (two actually) for reaching 50 in any playlist.  And I guess you get the "psycological warfare" benefit for it: When someone sees they're playing against a level 50, they might cower in fear and just let you kill them.

Also, it's used in matchmaking to put you into groups with people of similar 'experience' in the game.  Trying to make the playing ground as equal as possible.

I like in BioShock2 that they give you new masks and hats and stuff when you reach the higher levels and they also unlock audio diaries.  But you get access to better weapons and plasmids too, so in that way it's uneven like COD/MOD.  But, then again, you still get EXP points just for playing a match, so everyone can level up, it's just slower if you suck.

I'd try it out, the reason I gave up on CoD has to do with the lack of split-screen multiplayer, the perk thing just helped push it down.

BS1 is single player only, but it's one of my favourite games, so I'd definitely recommend it.  You shouldn't play BS2 Single Player until you've played BS1.  BS2 multiplayer is a nice addition for BioShock fans, but I can't imagine it bringing in anyone who doesn't love the Single Player experience.

Deus Ex 1 and 2 on sale for $2.50 each.

1 is perhaps a little dated graphically, but man that game was good.  Probably in my top 5 of all time.  2 is decent and worth the time if you are a fan of 1.

There's a High Def Texture Pack (HDTP) for Deus Ex 1.  Seems like it's a bit of a bumpy road getting it to work with Steam, but people have done it. (http://www.offtopicproductions.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1206)

I don't know, I haven't really heard anything about Alan Wake, and honestly, everything I have seen about it, it doesn't look very interesting.

I have so much else to play, I don't play too many games before they're six months old.  It's usually a year or two before I get to most of them.

Alan Wake may or may not be my kind of game.  But I'm not thinking about it right now.
