The whole problem I have with the way Anakin is shown in the PT is we never get the idea he was a good guy who was seduced by the darkside of the Force.

He is resentful of being a Jedi from pretty much the moment we see him in AOTC (not too surprising coming from the lousy pastoral care he seems to get from the council all the way down to his main teacher/mentor/friend/father figure).

He doesn't see other people using the darkside and covert it's perceived benefits, he doesn't throw himself into using the lightside only to be smacked in the face by it's limitations (unless you count the death of his mother, in which case he should have more tangible proof that the darkside could have saved her, it has the opposite effect on Padme).

Instead we get some snarky gossip putdowns of the Jedi (which he already is snarky about anyway) and a few dubious promises by Palpatine.

Anakin isn't Ben's good friend seduced by the darkside but Obi-Wan's unenthusiastic student who is offered a job being a Sith Lord by the boss Sith on the basis that being a Sith isn't as bad as the Jedi make out it is and the Jedi are pretty much the same thing (which they are).

It's more of a career advancement opportunity than a slip into evil.

Hi slave kid wanna a be a Jedi and see the Galaxy?

Yippee!

Hello Anakin how's the Jedi thing going?

It sucks but it's ok I guess.

Say Anakin, not a Jedi Master yet...ever thought of being a Sith Lord?

Yeah...whatever...
