This along with the passing of Frank Frazetta, is totally devastating to fans of their work.
Al's Work on the Star Wars newspaper strip was some of his best work.

Wow, how did this pass me by.
Here in the UK I collected the Star Wars weekly/monthly and always looked forward to Al Williamson illustrated stories - to my young eyes he was one of the few illustrators who did the universe justice.
Looking back he never really had a style beyond excellence - that is to say, I never noticed his style distract me away from the stories. Classic illustration.
later in the year they're re-publishing the marvel comics in another darkhorse star wars omnibus book - saw it on amazon.uk
should include Escape to Hoth - which ive been after for ages, but they seem to be collectors items now and too expensive for me.
You can never go home again, but i guess you can shop there.
Best Star Wars artist there ever was, the only one who comes close today is Doug Wheatley.
