Don't you mean traitor?
And a pick pocket!
Thanks TC4e, i was in a hurry and couldn't think of the right word. ;-)

Given the age of Star Wars, and the simple fact I'm interested in military stuff, I always imagined that cloaking device was:
a) a stealth technology; however, stealth is achieved through angular forms and special coatings (unless the Russian concept of plasma "bubble" proves effective)
b) heat dissipation technology - that's a bit Mass Effect, but ships with immensely powerful engines and reactors, plus heat based weapon systems would emit a lot of heat, easily visible in the cold vacuum of space; "cloaking field", as in Star Wars, I would imagine is either heat absorbing cells that can store the heat for a while, or a complex system that dissipates heat very fast. Either way would require a large ship to house it.
For one, I would really hate to see the visual "cloaking-decloaking" sci-fi cliche in Star Wars. :/
i always figured the SW cloaking tech to be more a sensor scrambling device rather than something that makes the ship visibly disappear.

I know more than anyone this is not an Ady-exclusive thread, but I thought I'd put some of his facebook comments to Rogue Leader (Ming) about RotJR on here:

ROTJ:R is going to be a lot bigger production than ESB:R. Extra rebel pilots, so that means cockpit sets (although most in ROTJ are pretty close up so i'll be keeping to that) of A-Wings, B-Wings & X-wings (maybe y-wings too) and then there is the ground battle. Do you think you can get some stormtroopers & scout troopers on board because we're going to need a few of them to pull this thing off along with the rebel troopers of course & Ewoks. I'll be starting to plan it as soon as ESB:R is finished and filming would be taking place before the video side of things starts. This way i can have plenty of footage and integrate it into the story a lot easier.

So he's not eliminating the ewoks...
;-)
The Ewoks still don't bother me :P
But they could definitely be improved. There's that shot of one of them holding a blaster and cheering, but we never see him use it.
I'd want to see a lot more Ewoks get blown up at first (Operation: Pincushion!) but then once they start capturing some blasters and Imperial tech I want to see them using it!
We do love death stars, dont we?
Cant wait to make a HR version of this

Maybe after Leia kills Jabba, she can do this
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Pic is not showing ESF...
It was a jabba the hutt bean bag chair. I guess it lost it's funniness.

Perhaps a second Death Star could be hidden if it was built into a revolving rocky moon of Endor. It would explain why nobody notices it until it's too late without the need for a cloaking device.
That's no moon, that's a ..
no wait... um..
Or (and maybe this should be in radical redux), a larger weapon dish is hidden under a continent or icecap on Endor (the forest moon of) itself?
DE
"Hey.......why is that asteroid shooting at us?"
A thought just came to me. -- In ESB, when the MF goes into the 'Worm Cave', how about instead of a worm, it's actually a shaft leading to the interior of a secret "Death Asteroid" ?.

That's sort of what I was suggesting with the Arecibo/Goldeneye thing on the previous page.
I rather like the idea of the Asteroid Death Star too.
Anything to give the final film some surprises and push ROTJ away from the Star Wars : The Greatest Hits the better.
You could even have the dish on the official Death Star appear unfinished so it looks helpless but the main weapon has been moved to a different structure, with full mobility.
Changing the subject a little, while watching ESB it seemed to me that Threepio seemed very dismissive of Chewie but had a bit of a droid crush on Lando.
So if possible it might make sense if his line while approaching Jabba's palace was flipped around so he said "Chewbacca and poor Lando Calrissian never returned from that awful place".
Your description of ROTJ as 'Star Wars: The Greatist Hits' is spot on Bingo, it would be great to break the formula that Lucas uses (although 'last movie there was one, this movie there'll be two!' falls into his film making formula also).
Adding a second Death Star would radically change the movie, but how could th rest of the movie tie together, new elements would need filmed including Ackbar & Lando's reaction. Will there be a decision for a second DS attack run, if so would this not be confusing for the viewer, Lando's DS Attack run, Luke's battle in the tower, Han & Leia's Endor adventure with the Ewoks, then _____?'s attack on the other Death Star.
Maybe thats why Lucas dropped the 2 DS scenario.

That's why we need FIVE death stars!! You may doubt if it was a trap before, but when the main death star opens and other death stars start unfolding like Russian dolls, then you know it is a trap.
This weekend i was pondering wether or not to start a few edit projects of my own...
I like TMBTM's War of the Stars! amongst other things i liked how all mention of Lukes father was cut out of it, for me it made the scene at Ben Kenobi's house go smoother and makes Luke a stronger character i think, i liked him more that he wasnt trying to become a Jedi because of his father.
soooo, i thought it would be cool to take out the whole family theme from empire and jedi too! - I think this would make the original films more like a serial in format (not better films just my edits of them) - so with this in mind, I would have the emperor removed from return of the jedi, and have him appear as a hologram instead (who doesnt get thrown down the shaft, that would just be silly!) - but with reduced dialogue. - Thus leaving the ending open for further episodes (obviously there won't be but that doesnt matter)
Not quite sure how im going to do it yet, or what im going to do about the emperor firing lightning at Luke, but Luke vs Vader duel would still be there - (tho reduced) it would make the ewok celebration at the end more of a celebration of the end of Vader instead of the sort of unbelievable, harsh, quick exit of the Imperials that the victory celebration implies. Leaving the Emperor quite safe (unfortunately for the Rebels!) on Coruscant.
Anyway, id start with empire first and see how that goes!
let me know what you think?
Cheers)
You can never go home again, but i guess you can shop there.

Seeing as If I were to do a TPM reworking I'd redub all the Trade Federation guys, I did suggest changing "There's too many off them" guy's line to "Now there are two of them".
You have already had the reactions to the first Death Star being operational, by the time the second is thrown in most of the other characters will be so stuck into the thick of the blood bath to A) respond again B) retreat.
This would only work if you went for the two fully functional Death Stars gambit with Piett switching sides to save his fleet (you need something else to destroy the other Death Star).
You could add a line into the briefing that Rebel Fleet hasn't enough firepower to destroy even a partially constructed Death Star but with Piett and a few other Imperials thrown in they could destroy the Emperors station (by attacking the weakest point of the incomplete side while Lando and the fighters destroy the one they were planning to destroy anyway.
Good luck cutnshut with your edits.
It's always great to see new angles to these films and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
