also I am certain I HAVE those LD's, just wish I had a cover image so I can start digging around to find them, would be a lot easier to see the cover than to try and read for an item number.

and chances are I already have it ripped and to DVD.

Pictures:

Empire with 1980 Theatrical Stereo:

Jedi with 1983 Theatrical Stereo:

Also, I just discovered a 1984 Japanese Empire LD that has the English 1980 theatrical audio track, and also is not time compressed:

And possibly the same for Jedi:

Also note that I have no idea if there ever was a 1985 remix for Jedi (though I'm fairly certain there was a 1993 remix), so it's possible that the Japanese Special Collection (with the 1985 remixes of Star Wars and Jedi) and its related US releases contains the 1983 stereo for Jedi, as well.

But I'm not 100% sure on that.

Well I found the top 2 LD's and my DVD's of both, hopefully I can get what I need form the DVD's, my LD capping equipment is not hooked up to my PC right now.

Cool!

So ... is your ESB the '85 release pressed by Pioneer in Carson, CA
or is it the '92 re-issue made in Japan by Mitsubishi ?

Yes it might make a difference, especially if you've previously captured the digital track from the Mitsubishi

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

This is the 1992 re-issue Mallwalker is talking about:

This version has a digital audio track that is either the 1985 or 1993 remix (not sure which), and an analog track that is most likely the 1980 theatrical mix.

However, according to the Laserdisc Database, this reissue is time compressed ...

OK I have a 2 sided ESB with number 1425-80 manufactured and printed in the USA.

also have 5 sided ESB with number 1425-84 manufactured and printed in the USA.

for Jedi I have,
3 sided(weird this has less sides than ESB) with number 1478-80 manufactured and printed in the USA.

it does not say what city they were pressed in, or I just can't see it LOL.

so are any of these correct?

also if this is anything I found Star Wars # 1130-84

Well the DVD rips from the captures are useless, I get ESB all sync'd up at the start and as soon as Luke is recovering in the med bed talking to scruffy looking nerve hurter it slowly drifts, and by the end it is waaaay out, so I assume I will have to rip from the LD.

But first I need to know if the above mentioned LD's are the ones for sure we need.

DVD rips from the captures...?

Anyway, sounds like the LD might be time compressed - AIUI, they could run the video signal a little fast to get more video on a side without having to cut anything.

So how does this sound for the audio extra's, if I can get them to fit.

ANH
'77 Stereo, 35mm Stereo, hairy_hens 70mm 5.1, '77 mono.(I have all 3 and this disc could actually be done real soon, it has also been done using msycamore's sub script)

ESB
hairy_hens music-edited 5.1, '93 Stereo, '80 Stereo(if I can get it sync'd that is).

ROTJ
hairy_hens music-edited 5.1, '93 Stereo, '83 Stereo(again if I can get it to sync up).

thoughts?

That's the one.
(Other one says "MANUFACTURED IN JAPAN, PRINTED IN USA" on disc labels.)
So your earlier rip is valid. By that I mean 'believed to be theatrical.'

You'd get the same result, I reckon...

Not time compressed.
It's a different telecine, maybe different print. Frames missing around reel changes and whatnot.
Fewer total frames than GOUT is why it drifts out of sync.
[I'd begun to document missing frames...got thru side 3 as I recall, but haven't touched it in a long while.]

Scored that one still in shrink wrap unopened, for a sawbuck! No need to bust it out though, since Belbucus has done a 'wizard' job already.

OK, so the 5 sided LD is the right one for ESB, is the other one I mentioned for ROTJ the right one?

Yes, 1478-80 is the one with the 1983 stereo mix.
of course that's assuming Burtt didn't get a hair up his butt to tweak it, in order to showcase the then-new digital sound (and 'HiFi' VHS) technologies.

True.  What I really meant to say was, if any of the Jedi laserdiscs have the 1983 mix, it's the one with the 1478-80 catalog number.

Added the 35mm Stereo audio to ANH and capturing the LD's as well for ESB and ROTJ Theatrical mixes.

ESB
hairy_hens music-edited 5.1, '93 Stereo, '80 Stereo(if I can get it sync'd that is).

ROTJ
hairy_hens music-edited 5.1, '93 Stereo, '83 Stereo(again if I can get it to sync up).

I think its awesome that we've now reached the point where we have most of the original sound mixes (good job on the LD captures). Star Wars DVDs are getting interesting again!

WOW, I did not think you were interested in this project from reading the thread on ED3, or maybe just interested in the different audio mixes only.
