I agree-especially about theatrical stereo mixes for Empire and Jedi. I don't think I've ever heard them. It's nice to finally be able to get away from the 93 mixes.
So which Laserdisc set has these stereo mixes, I am sure I have them( I have all NTSC LD's) but not sure which LD's they are, if you know which ones they are and can post an image of the covers and info I can look into getting them.
I just bumped a post I made last year that has all the audio tracks listed with which laserdisc they appear on in a non-time-compressed form.
For the record, here's what I vote for (audio that would be default is listed first):
Star Wars
- 1977 Stereo
- Hairy_Hen's 70mm 5.1
- 1977 Mono
Empire
- 1980 Stereo
- Hairy_Hen's music-edited 5.1
Jedi
- 1983 Stereo
- Hairy_Hen's music-edited 5.1
Also, as far as subtitles go, I'd recommend checking out this thread - maybe you can use msycamore's script for Star Wars (hopefully he ends up doing one for Jedi as well). I would never download another Star Wars DVD again if you could get near-theatrical-looking burned-in white subtitles, along with all the theatrical audio tracks!
