Two events come to mind:
One strange incident occured when I was in high school. I had dreamed that my family and I were in a car chase. In the dream, we ended up getting into a head-on collision and my dad died. I woke up in a panic; it took a few seconds for me to realize it was just a dream, and that both my parents were safe. Later, at breakfast, I asked my mom how she slept and she tells me she had a terrible night -- seems she had a dream that she was at my dad's funeral. I then told her about my dream. My dad, who was sitting there eating his Cheerios the entire time, began to look a bit nervous. My mom and I then told him that under no circumstances were we letting him leave the house that day. To this day, that was the first and only time either my mom or I have dreamed about my dad's death.
The other incident occured when I was very young (I'm guessing somewhere between 6-8 years old). I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to go to the kitchen to get a drink. As I'm walking down the hall, I pass the doorway leading to our dining room and, out of the corner of my eye, I see this shadowy figure, about my height, walking parallel to me... it was almost like I was passing in front of a mirror, but with only a shadowy reflection being mirrored back. I stopped and did a double take, but the shadow was gone and I was left looking into the dark, empty room. I proceded to get my drink and went back to bed, surprisingly (in retrospect) not too disturbed by the incident; more than anything, I was curious about what I had seen.
Years later, talking with my wife, I recalled this incident. At first I chalked it up to childhood imagination, but out of curiosity I googled "shadow people". Turns out I'm not the only one to have experienced this phenomena.
