Misheard line in ESB

After reading through the thread about the "uncut" Empire 70mm I thought of an instance where I remember something from the theatrical run yet have never seen it in any other version. Mind you I was pretty young at the time but I'm pretty sure it was there.

When Luke is upside down in the Wampa cave, and fails to reach for the lightsaber, I remember then hearing Obi Wan's voice instructing Luke to "use the Force". After hearing this, Luke then reaches out and tries to grab the saber using the force.

The version I saw was most likely a re-release in 1981 or 82, 35mm print. Now it could be possible that I'm simply remember something from the storybook or record or whatever. But heres an instance where I could swear I heard that Obi Wan dialog, and have been looking for it ever since in all the different mixes Lucasfilm has released since.

Anyone else hear of this bit of dialog in any of the released versions?

I think that may have been on one of the 45 rpm ESB story books. I vaguely remember the same thing, but I can't remember ever seeing it in any version of ESB.

I also saw the ESB re-release in 1982 (which was the only time I saw it theatrically aside from the SE) and I don't remember that line being in there, FWIW.

Thanks for the replies. Its funny how memory especially from when we are kids tends to be faded and misremembered. I think it will be amazing though if another poster remembers this line from the theatrical release! Its too bad Ben Burtt doesn't lurk these boards (or does he??) so he can solve all these audio questions.

Since I first saw the film in '82, I've always remembered seeing a string of spit between Han and Leia's lips as they are pulled away from each other in the carbon freeze kissing scene. I've looked for it in every video incarnation I've ever owned, and have not seen it since!

Could this of been in the comic book or novel? for some reason I think I remember this here as well, but not from a spoken source. But one of the 'story of' records could of been correct as well.

Those lines were added as subtitles in Building Empire, maybe that's what you remember?

it's funny what your memory takes for granted as gospel, as I remember and always believed that that line was in the film.
it's definately appeared in some version of the story even if it didn't end up in the final version of the film, I just checked the Radio drama thinking it may have been a false memory implanted by that, but alas it wasn't. I haven't had a copy of 'The story of Empire Strikes Back' since my casette was chewed up years ago, but I'm wondering if it appeared on that?

The only time I've ever seen such a thing in a movie is when Connor MacLeod is kissing his wife in the original "Highlander."

Trust me, it is possible to make such confusions (even when you're not a little kid). I saw "Far and Away" once and for some reason remembered the main character being played by Mel Gibson. It was actually Tom Cruise.

A (not much younger than me) friend of mine confused Sam Neil with Liam Neeson.

I distinctly remember Luke using his saber to trip Vader in ROTJ.

Yeah, and Luke missed the first time with the grappling hook...

Well, now that you've said it I seem to remember that too, it's also like a hazy childhood memory. I just checked and it's in the novelization, which I've read as a kid, is it possible you remember it from there?
