All the beta, including the one for Silver members, require ODST, which I don't have. So yeah, I'll sit this one out. Don't want to have to buy one game just to try out another one. ;-)

And THAT'S my problem with Halo. The good players rub it in, and the bad players think they're good and try to trash talk their way to the top. We went from having full teams of 8 having fun to my wife and I and maybe one other person in a Party so we don't have to listen to anyone else. I don't enjoy being competitive really, that's why I like L4D so much.

That very last bit kind of sums up me and video games as well. I just don't have time or the desire to play often enough to really get any where near as good as most other people playing online. So for me, playing online is usually about dying over and over and over again. I like to play online with my friends, but a lot of them are better than me too.

Which is EXACTLY (or at least one more reason) why ODST is beyond a doubt my favorite Halo. Firefight is great fun, the competition thing is out, now it is more like L4D, just help each other stay alive and survive wave after wave after wave of Covenant forces. There is no way to win, they just keep coming, it is all about endurance and better yet, about shooting things with your buddies.

Have you ever tried firefight 005? If not, then I think I'd feel safe in recommended ODST if you can find it at an affordable price. Between firefight, and being able to free roam the streets of New Mambasa in a team of four makes it a really great multiplayer Halo game. Yeah, the campaign is really short, but I think I actually enjoyed it more than any of the other Halo campaigns. It is quite a bit different than the other Halo games, and I guess the differences just really appealed to me because I love it, despite all the hate it gets.

I was interested in it, just never got to it. If I do find it cheap, I'll probably pick it up.

Yes... pick it up so we can play firefight... after we play some L4D2 sometime...

I'm afraid Sunday nights are totally dead for me, for always.

But feel free to play without me... I'll just have to find Fridays or Saturdays where my wife doesn't expect me to pay attention to her.  :)  Or maybe I have to get her to play like yours does, 005.  I wonder if that dramamine is still good...

Getting Red Dead Redemption tonight. Trading in the gorily satisfying but ultimately too short Aliens vs Predator.

I didn't find AVP to be satisfying at all. Granted I didn't play it very long.

Most look at getting Heavy Rain today when I go to the shops but I just don't want to pay more than about $70 for it and last time I looked it was $109.

Anyone played it? - Recommendations?

RE: RDR, it's great so far - I haven't lost interest like i did with GTA 4. In fact i wish there were MORE side missions and distractions. The side games like Poker are a nice diversion.

The first day i went into free roam with some mates and we spent hours running arround stealing wagons and hunting wildlife - and laughing our asses off.

I still need to finish Arkham asylum and I don't think I'll ever finish WET - it's got horrible gameplay that's repetitive and peppered with quicktime events - I only got it cheap to cheack out the retro grindhouse flavour.

Re: Burnout Paradise - i feel like they lost the plot a bit - the previous one was much more fun, In paradise i just get lost and distracted, I got rid of the game before I had a chance to try the motorbike expansion. Is it just me?

I feel like Burnout is sort of a "Desert Island" game.  Or, if you could only afford one game, then BP would be a great buy.  As is, I always feel compelled to play games that I can "finish" when I get some time.  I've very much enjoyed the time I've spent on Paradise Island...  But when I get an hour, and I can choose between finishing a game I've been playing, or tooling around in BP for a little bit... I almost never choose BP.

If Heavy Rain is too much like Indigo Prophecy (Farenheit) then I'd probably skip it.  I know a lot of people love love loved Indigo Prophecy, and they were the most excited for Heavy Rain (loose sequel)... But I didn't really care for IP...

So my wife let me buy Red Dead Redemption. She watched me play Friday night and Saturday morning. Then she wanted to try.

Now I can't get her away from it. She just headed south of the border and I'm maybe a third of the way through the US missions. I'm glad she likes it, but I just wish we could play together without buying another xbox and hooking it to the other TV.

I played some Free Roam last night with a friend online, and it was really fun. The towns are not nearly populated enough, but shooting a carriage driver from horseback, then riding in the carriage with your friend driving you to the next gang hideout where you storm at a fort from multiple angles, one rushing in while the other takes shots at them from a distance is AWESOME. I can't imagine having a whole posse of 8 people doing it, but I can imagine that it would be even better.

Also, you can shoot your own horse. As you're riding it. Hilarity ensues.

Me too.  But I would buy another xbox in a second if it also didn't mean I had to own 2 copies of every game I wanted to play this way.  If they used the install to HDD option to allow you to play it on multiple boxes on a LAN, I'd be all over it.
