005- I think you've put it well there. Logically and mentally (aren't they the same) it made no sense and didn't deliver any resolution...
But emotionally it seemed good. Maybe it was all the slow piano. Actually, it was probably all of the flashbacks to when the show was intriguing and good. It was really nice to see everyone back together again. You know, like the ending of Grease.
The episode should have been called, "Live Together. Die Alone. Live Together."
Actually, it should been called, "Jacob, apparently, is a retarded man-child who was jealous of his unnamed brother that he got to create the rules for a pebble-based strategy game that washed up on the shore of the island they mysteriously live on so he created the most insane rules ever to guard a secret cave with the meaning of life in it and the rules didn't even do that because his brother or the smoke monster whatever guy still put Desmond down there which he could have done 7 episodes ago if he had wanted and speaking of Desmond he was disappointed he didn't die and go to a better place when he pulled the drain on the island and I was like So as long as you get to go to Heaven screw the rest of the Losties and screw the rest of humanity and screw you xhonzi! Screw you most of all! eh Desmond?"
Or "Screw you xhonzi" for short.
