Gonna repost this again, New page. and I know alot of people dont flip back thru every page of a thread.
My Episode 3 Edit Reign of the Dark Side
It just keeps getting better and better.
Any thoughts on creating tutorials on how you did some of the more complicated effects shots?
I like that a lot more. Much better. Also, someone on Youtube said the sound was weird, but I think it works. If you do change the sound maybe make it more of a whoosh instead of a boom..?.. I dunno, just throwing ideas out there.
I think the sound is gonna stay. If you were watching that full screen with the sound turned up and didnt expect it coming, you would probably crap your pants. And thats the reaction I'm looking for 8)

Hah or you make the window crack when he ignites his saber. He is really pissed off :P

Maybe some lightening? Just alittle hint of it?
I was thinking of playing with the lights in the room, have them flicker for a second. But not sure how well that would come across.

They dont get that they f*cked up with the wrong mexican.. i mean Sith

Im ok with one sound effect... but maybe that sound effect is too mechanical... Sounds like Palpatine works with the same turbo-boost of a podracer.
Why not simply add some Suprise music (no, i dont mean "tadaah"). It would also make more fluent with the "fight music" that sounds after it. Or, have you tried with the actual "Sith Scream"?
Not gonna lie Angel...That would scare the crap out of me if I walked in on him like that.
Great idea Angel! I agree with snicket, that scene looks scary as hell like that. Imagine what it would look like with the Throne Room theme playing underneath it.
I think with that scene, the less we see of it, the better. Maybe just implying with music and some brief shots what kind of terrible waste Palpatine laid on the Jedi would be far more effective.
Hmmm, I kind of like what SilverKey is saying. Maybe instead of like a continuous shot, you cut it like a trailer. So he says "It's treason then..." We hear the sound. Quick fade-ins to the jedi getting killed. But a new shot with each death. Then the Mace/Sidious fight. I am gonna try and work something out. With a SD version of ROTS I have.
Holy crap... Dimming the lights right before he strikes... Wow..... That could work...Wow. Goosebumps.

So maybe have the whole room like that, and then when he charges at the Jedi, light the whole place up to distract a bit?
Also, is it possible to remove that "Sith Scream" completely? That little remainder of it makes the whole thing feel like a rough cut, when it really isn't.
Maybe something like this... obviously this is poorly done, since i almost dont know anything about editing audio and video, but might give a clue.

(I didnt upload it to youtube since it is mostly BobGarcías video and this way its not publicly displayed)
Think I'm going to stick with the Sound effect, I might change it out for something close to it tho. I based it off the sound that the Jedi make when they burst run in TPM, cause I thought it fit pretty well. I might work alittle of the Sith Scream back in tho.
The only other thing I think I'll mess with is flickering the lights on and off as he raises up out of his chair. And flickering them again in between him cutting them down. Keeping the sabers glowing bright all the while. If I can do that, I'll be thrilled.
This version of the scene is ment to shock people, so that they feel and understand how the Jedi must have felt, like WTF!?!?. Thats why no music cues are added. Cause I feel it takes away from the action going on.
Now the Music after the force rush will be cleaned up tho. I kinda did this quick, and was so happy with the results. I wanted to share it. 8)
***Edit*** Also it's sort of a trademark in this edit, that most of the major scenes in this film have a music pause before a major event. I never really realized I was doing it, until a few people mentioned it after watching my Version 2 cut. So it's a habit of mine, I guess.

BobGarcia, I've been following you for awhile, first on youtube (as Mrspartansmith) And I'm very impressed. I think you can take the story further than you already are, I think you have great talent as an editor. In a way you remind me of tropperman, though you probably don't know who he is...yet lol.
I will try to contribute as much feedback as I can to help you in the creative process. I also now feel G. Grievous is well, rather Devious...good stuff. I'll comment on the mace duel soon.
The person your searching for simply does not exist

Watching this I got the exact same feeling that I had back in 2004 when I 1st saw the trailer for "Revenge of the Sith" and got all excited and couldn't stop smiling like some kind of imbecile. XD
OK heres a few ideas bob, as he says "its treason then" give him a flash of his yellow eyes like you did with anakin fighting Dooku, and is there any way of sneaking in a little of the emperors laughter as he's about to follow mace out the door?Just brain farting that last idea I really don't know if it would work but give it a go to see if it does
Bingowings said: Do you want to see the project finished as a playable film or a flick book?
Some ideas that i came up.
Since Bob wants to keep the executions then at least make the jedi...real jedi.
Aaula or whatever her name is seems that she was ready to defend herself but her saber was off all the time.
Also for continuity sake the saber comes magically from her left side to right hand between shots. a Simple crop i think can solve that.
Also stylisticaly speaking the saber of palps looks a bit wrong be in front of the chair. So lets say i "correct" it being behind it :)

Good thoughts angel, I still have those jedi wipeout scenes redone with new audio so I'll for sure look into it. check your PM btw. I'm headed to bed atm, Long night working at the night club tonight. Good lord I'm tired.

That's a great idea. I don't know if you watch Smallville, but in one episode in season 9, Clark is inside Checkmate's headquarters to rescue Chloe. When he enters the room she is in and fights of the guards, the lights are flickering, and because Clark moves so fast, all we see when the light comes on are single frames still of his movements. The music and sound effects fill in the rest. I think it's quite artistic, and may work very well for this scene since the material is very limited. Here's the scene on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yhi8njyGpak
