Not exactly. If you play the sequence in slo-mo, you can see him goose her, but there's no actual contact shown.

I am boycotting the dvd set. I will not buy it. Also, a co worker and I have discussed this, and he is doing the same thing. I know, I know, I can just see Lucas shaking right now because 2 people will not buy his SE dvd set.

Still, it is the principle of the thing. I'll use my Beatles analogy here. They issued Let It Be in 1970. They also issued Let It Be Naked in 2003. Both versions of it exist. People can choose. I don't see why Lucas can not see this simple fact. Even from an economic standpoint; if he released both versions onto a 6 DVD set, he could charge more and make more money from sales.

That would be stupid to go through that over a couple frames.

Thank you, I am extremely happy as well. It may also surprise some to say I will be happy to get my SE LDs as well, but have I ever cared?

Anyway, I can see why people want to boycott or at least buy from someone on Ebay. I admit as someone who watches the SE most that it is still tempting, the principle of it. But I think we only risk segmenting ourselves from more potential SW fans. I think more people are likely to join the cause if they see how moderate we have been, how nice to GL and patient. Not that I am saying that people who boycott are fanatical or something, far from it.

Now you just have to get one of Sony's new dual-layer DVD burners, and you're in business...

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

That was also what theforce.net reported, which I find awesome, but still wish the originals would be there. And I keep thinking, GL, have an ET moment. GL, have an ET moment.

If the DVDs sell the originals will never come. If they don't they might come. There selling so you know.

That would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath...

Perhaps, but they could come out in a bigger boxset, there is no telling. I can't read Gl's mind, can you?

Well, it doesn't make any difference to me. I still won't be buying the SE's. Especially now that I know I can get the laserdisc version on DVD. Hey, if GL doesn't want my money, that's his decision.

Hes making enough money. The cost of releasing the originals and distributing them would probably excede the price of the added sales.

I doubt it. DVD production is fairly cheap, especially when it comes to duplication.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Mastering the original versions in DVD quaity.
duplication
packaging
shiping

I doubt that the added sales would equal that. Lucas knows most will give in and buy it anyway.

Depends how much he charges. It costs about 20 cents per disc in duplication costs.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I totally agree with GundarkHunter, it costs very little to make a single DVD for the consumer, if you think otherwise then I would say the corporations have fooled you well.

It costs $2.00 not $0.20 to replicate a dual layer DVD. That is cheap but the cost of mastering the original versions in DVD quaity will cost at least $20,000. Most people are going to buy the DVDs originals or not so it would probably be an unnessessary cost.

If you truly don't believe that they could cover the cost of releasing the OT on DVD, you are kidding yourself. Most fans of StarWars would buy both editions; there are 50,000 peopl who have signed the petition asking for the OT, they would buy them. Look at LOTR, they realeased at least two different versions of that and all of them sold like hot cakes. They would make a bundle out of it. GL has never said anything about not making the OT on DVD because of the cost; he knows it would make millions. The decision was due to his his bizzarre artistic objections which don't make any sense...

Not if they release them seperately with different specials features, like LOTR. He can just release this boxset first and then a few months later the OT, with the UE being like the LOTR EE and the OT like the LOTR OT most likely. And it would make up the difference, no doubt whatsoever. Not to mention, jimbo, do you know exactly how many people who made the preorders KNOW that the OT won't be there? Perhaps they do, because I only remember it being mentioned at a few select media outlets like FOX News.

If they don't know there idiots who deserve to waste there money. I have no sympathy for those who get caught with a product that they should have researched. Like those guys complaining that they shouldn't have bought the two disc Fellowship of the Ring because they didn't know about the extended edition a few months away. Hah Not only was the Extended Edition announced at the same time but it even mentions the extended version on the back cover of The Fellowship of the Ring. The idiots who think they are buying the originals deserve to waste there money. But I am sure that most who are buying the DVDs understand that these are not the originals.
