Hello ABC

thanx for your last pm - response. I'll try to post my self-made photo with soundtracks there again cause I don't have anywhere else to post it. I don't know why it didn't show first time as I did exactly as you've told me to do (imageshack).

As I listened different versions of ESB through years and years I allways noticed differences  in sound which I thaught, somebody should be able to fix. I never liked the idea of doing it myself, so now I'm very happy to find that someone did that on his own for himself and , I hope, all people interested in it.

The thing with your Thread - popularity isn't so bad as you might think. I'm sure, there are a lots of interesrted people but they are not members of OT.com, or they just simply don't know that this is here, or they have other priorities in their lives then to respond of this thread with great news, although they still feel that this is great news.

I understand that this is a big work you did and would like to thank you once more for accomplishing it. I also woudln't have any problem to donate you for that because this is musically one giant part of my life and it's very important for me to owe it in all its glory.

Have a nice time and greets to averyone at this thread and OT.com

wise you must be.

I'm definitely interested. I know my feedback has been less than sufficient last time, and I plan to do better if you give me a chance :) I can't promise you  immediate feedback, because of real life stuff, but you'll get it asap.

Thanks for the input. However you may be amazed by the difference between the number of people who can pm you for getting such stuff, next to the people who care to let you know. And I don't ask so much as a detailed feedback. For instance there's a member called "Lee.Lethal" who just takes time to post once - with no more than 10 words - for each of my works. Such guy just shares his enthusiasm the simplest way and you see: it's great enough and I can remember him !

Next to that some people want to promise detailed feedbacks and are especially the ones who won't never do it... Stop being intelectual and let go guys ! I don't care of the detail... I know each detail of what I've done there.

... I also woudln't have any problem to donate you for that because this is musically one giant part of my life and it's very important for me to owe it in all its glory.

Donate ?... A couple of minutes is not too much to ask, and you just did it. Thanks !

SIDENOTE:

I'm not fond of birthdays and always hated the idea to make the "Audiophile Edition" a "Empire Strikes Back 30th Annyversary edition", but just realized my set is ready just at time ! So be the ways of the Force. Happy birthday ESB !

I'm also rather surprised there aren't more responses to this thread. I hope my attempt at a more detailed and objective feedback didn't harm the AE... I tend to be overly critical. It definitely deserves praise. And I certainly had an excellent musical evening thanks to ABC's effort in restoring the score. I'll just say "thank you", and leave it there!

Looking forward to the covers. I hope I don't mess the up... :)

Thanks Burdokva, I'm actually glad for you to have given a little review of your own about the AE. No problem for me ! That's just as simple as it should be... I guess.

If I get it, which is highly doubtful because of the secrecy now, but if I do I will share it with all.

There is not enough Thanks and thread bumping going on for a public share from I keep reading from ABC, oh well, still have the others.

Dark Jedi didn't read post #225 where I adress a special note to his attention... "Oh well", may I say too.

You are right, I did not see that, well if I can't get the links from you then I guess I am also one of the people you chose NOT to share with, but if by some strange miracle you do share, then I will respect your wishes and not torrent or upload to the newsgroups, that is the least I can do.

I guess only time will tell.

I really wish I hadn't been as busy as I have the past few days, but I was able to start listening to this and I have to say the sound quality ABC has managed to achieve is very impressive.  There's a clarity and richness to it that is hard to describe but feels "right".  I wasn't going to post about it here since he hasn't wanted to release it generally but I figured I'd chime in since others already have.  A more detailed listen is among my top priorities as soon as I can--what I have heard so far has been wonderful.  I always used to assume that defects I heard in the scores were just flaws of whatever sound system I was listening on, but after hearing ABC's work I realised that my speakers were fine, and just how rubbishy some of the official versions actually are . . .

Question for you ABC, or anyone else who is interested: how do you feel about the music that was deleted from the film?  I am generally against that sort of thing--witness Alien as a soundtrack that was atrociously mangled in its film release--but I am in two minds about what was done in Empire.  It's not chopped up nearly as much as that, and clearly it works well, but listening to the music on its own you realise there is a fair amount that was cut out, and I can never decide whether I think what they did improved the film or if it would have been better to use it as written.  Obviously this varies on a scene by scene basis.  What do you think?

I don't think anything excepted that it is a rare occasion to witness two masterpieces brought together: the movie itself + the score. It is phenomenal whatever I may answer to your question.

... Makes me think it's been many years since I haven't grabbed the occasion to watch and appreciate this film again.

Hello,

I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. ABC, I've downloaded all of your previous efforts, and have loved them all. I would very much like to hear your newest work, and I promise to leave you feedback. And I just wont say "It's awesome!". I probably will include that, but I will give you a little detail too. Thanks so much for all you've done!

How are you?

And now with Adywan's 1980 theatrical version coming in the next couple days, what better opportunity? :)  I'll be doing the same thing myself.

RE: cut music: Watching the clips on youtube, some of the edits make since (the lightsaber duel), while some I would have preferred to be intact (Luke's Jedi training followed by the TIE asteroid bombing).  Ah well, creative license, no?

I just wish more composers today would wait to score the film until a final (or near final) cut is done.  The you get the possibility of fantastic film scores than not only compliment the film, but can stand on their own (ESB, of course, and the highly under appreciated Conan the Barbarian come to mind).  Or you could start scoring midway through the edit and get a hack job (the prequels - especially AOTC).  And let's not even start on all the banal film scores coming out of Hollywood nowadays....

O.T. or No T., baby!

Have a good time then. I'm not here for Star Wars myself, I'm here for the music through a couple of masterpieces... It occurs that they're related to SW then I present them there thanks to OT.com.

... Could also have presented my "Conan The Barbarian" remastered score on CTB.com but I doubt it really exists ! Heh

Shame about the computer troubles. Even if nothing is lost, always a pain.

I read post 225. I sent you a PM once before about the salvage set, so I know not to do that from now on. I thankfully managed to find it (I think. Its the Internet, so you really never know) on the net and loved it. ANH was a pleasure.

Hopefully, someday, I'll come across this set too. I'm sure it sounds fantastic. But, its your work. So, if simple and silent is the way you want it, then that's how its gotta be.

Hey Mr. Frink, Thanks for noticing my screen name! I love KITH and thought it would be funny.

Wonderful, I love the covers and the 3rd CD.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas
