Palpatine was iconic. Even he was very little in ROTJ he was more memorable from the timefiller maul.

As redletter media said the characters from ep 1 to two are whole different persons. thats why i dont know how the idea maul - grievous can work as Bingo suggested. Maul never speaks. GG is speaking all the time.

So id rather make normal palp with evil eyes rather the opposite ;)

I understand, it works with some ppl but not others, to me GG is too different a character to maul, dont really like the idea of maul to GG.

Palpatine i suppose was the iconic symbol of evil. it works in that context.
