How long to Alderaan from Tatooine?

How long, do you suppose, does it take the Millennium Falcon to get to Alderaan from Tatooine?  Is it hours/days/or week(s)?

I always kind of assumed hours, but I'm also wondering how long Princess Leia is on the Death Star...  She's captured the same day that the droids rocket down to Tatooine.  Luke buys them the next day, and it's the day after that that he meets Ben.  Maybe a day for them to get to Mos Eisley and hire Han.  Depending on how long it takes them to get to the Death Star and rescue Leia... she's been there for a couple days?  I always felt like she was there longer than a week, but I guess I could buy 3 days.

I never took it to be more than a day to get to Alderaan from Tatooine. Something about the way they guy says "its markings match that of a ship that blasted its way out of Mos Eisley" makes me think it was fresh in their minds. Also, the torture seems to go fast. She resists the mind probe, they go to Alderaan, blow it up, and sit there for a bit until she cracks, capturing the Falcon while they're there. I don't think the entire movie takes a week.

I think this cant be answered without knowing how fast the ship flys.

I would say the beginning of the film till the Yavin scenes are 1 day. Then the Death star battle, the second day. Medal ceremony could be the 3rd or 4th day. Of course Luke said "I've learned soo much" in ESB. I don't think a day is what I would consider a big learning experience.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

It can't be a single day!  We see several day/night scenes on Tatooine alone!

Okay, hotshot.  NOW tell me how many hours/days/weeks it takes.

Maybe it has something to do with the two suns...maybe an eclipse...or...poor color correction...or...

Point 5 past lightspeed, so 1.5 times lightspeed.

The Falcon can make it 0.5 past light speed, but it’s not clear if this is the normal travel speed or the upper limit.

We don’t know that. We don’t know what “point five last lightspeed” actually means. It could mean 0.5, or 50% faster than the speed of light. Or it could mean something else entirely. Maybe it’s some kind of exponential factor?

Plus they aren’t traveling at lightpseed or what have you in normal space. They do it in hyperspace. Which is never explained but could very well be some sort of quantum space-bending wormhole or some such. So traveling at anything resembling the speed of light (or more) through something like that could result in insanely high relative speeds from one system to another.

Plus it’s space fantasy that has never concerned itself with real world physics and has never given enough info to really be able to relate it to or calculate it with real science.
