But they are also unable to jump into hyper space because the hyperdrive has been disabled. So how are they going to dodge and blow them away when Lando runs back to try and fix it. Leia and Chewy cant do it, and Chewy is mainly a pilot not a gunner from my observation.
Normally Lando would but he is busy prepping the Hyperdrive which he thinks will work.
But even so they still have a lot of space to maneuver in, Lando isn't Han but if ROTJ shows anything he is almost Han and Han managed to dodge Star Destroyers and fighters and still program the Hyperdrive.
But having a couple of capital ships blocking off some of their escape and fighters pressing behind them while attempting to program the computer would put them into position where they would have to push forward until they could jump to light speed.
By the time they know they can't it's already too late.

Remember the reason the Falcon ends up so close to the Executor near the end of the movie is to build up tension... oh no!..... after all this shit, all we want is to get outta here and go and rescue Han..... and maybe tend to Luke's lobbed off hand.
It's not just about making things tactically perfect, its about MOVIE MAKING!!

Suspense is more tangible if the circumstances are more believable.
Star Wars is a fantasy film but the characters still exist in a defined world with rules.
