It's one heck of a game, Sluggo. You should play it. Captures the Star Wars mood far better than any of the prequels. And it's available for PC or Mac :)

Courtesy of good ol' Wikipedia:

"Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic received strong praise, along with high critical acclaim. KotOR won numerous awards, including Game Developers Choice Awards' 2004 game of the year, BAFTA Games Awards' best Xbox game of the year, and Interactive Achievement Awards for best console RPG and best computer RPG."

The pictures were aligned with the BG.

Issues: Traffic constantly change position and density from shot to shot.

The saber has 3 different positions (first pic is cropped so you cant see it)

It's definitely in my top 5 games of all time. Heck, I'd say it captures the Star Wars mood even better than the original trilogy, haha.

What really should be fixed is having the cloak lay over the upper chest plate like it's seen in ANH.  Like this:

At the risk of pissing people off for going off topic, have you heard of the restored content mod for KOTOR2, Darthmunky?

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sith_Lords_Restored_Content_Mod

They've just released a final version after months of Beta testing.

Proof that whenever a studio (be it film or game) fail to deliver, the community takes matters into its own hands, and "fan edits" are born.

See, I brought that one on topic....sort of :p

While you are absolutely right, still vader in ROTS has nothing to do with ANH vader. So while thinking placing the cape from the outside, consider the other elements that mus fit that can not be done without reshoots :)

Assuming that vader change his outfit more often than padme during the movies is still an option keep the rots design as way it have :D

I've seen a lot of attempts to try and hide the fact that "Vader is Anakin Skywalker". For those who want to do that, I propose, instead of recutting Vader's birth in EpIII, cut it out fully (plus remove any mention of the name "Vader"). Why, you ask? It's simple logic. EpI - Darth Maul. EpII - Palps gets Dooku out of somewhere. EpIV - Palps gets Vader out of somewhere. EpV - Vader is actually Anakin. Not showing Vader at all in EpIII will make his appearance in EpIV less suspicious than showing his birth in EpIII. And what about Anakin, you may ask? Well, he lies burned all out near the river of lava, Palps leaning over what seems to be a dead body.

There is, however, a problem - with EpIV. It's three dialouges - between Luke and Obi-Wan, Vader and Tarkin and Obi-Wan and Vader. Now, regarding the Luke-Obi-Wan, after watching EpIII we'll all know that Obi-Wan's lying, regardless if we know that Anakin is Vader or if we don't (the difference is, that if we dont know Vader is Anakin, the audience may go like - booo! YOU killed him, you lying bastard! Which actually makes perfect sense, knowing that Prowse during EpV shoot said that Obi-Wan killed Luke's father...). But. Any mention that Obi-Wan was Vader's master will ruin the suspence. It's not like it's hard to put 2 plus 2 together.

So yeah. Simple, yet effective, recipe:

1. EpIII - cut out any mention of name Vader and the birth in his suit

2. EpIII - make it seem like Anakin died on Mustafar

3. EpIV - cut out any mention that Vader was Obi-Wan's pupil

4. EpIV - Obi-Wan's lying about Vader killing Anakin, but clearly doesn't want to tell Luke that Anakin turned to the Dark Side at one point in his life.

5. EpIII/IV - some additional cutting may be done to explain how Vader and Obi-Wan know eachother. Particullary in EpIII, if we don't show Tatooine, it may be implied that Vader tried to hunt down Jedi, including Obi-Wan, and that Obi-Wan sooner or later came to Tatooine.

I think that's the most efficient way to hide the fact that Vader is Luke's father. The recipe, though, doesn't cover the sister thing. Plus everything's still a pain in the ass.

It's no problem at all preserving the impact if we give ourselves free reign to edit the OT. But I think most people want to make the PT fit with the OT, not the other way around :(

Author
Time

Sadly, the only ways to retain the surprise would be to cut all mention of Darth Vader from the PT or do what TV's Frink said. Unless you fancy making three new movies that can serve as the PT for hardcore fans.

But yeah. As far as I'm concerned the OT is a contained story and as such I don't think the PT is really necessary. Just my thoughts.

I've mentioned this before (though it wasn't my idea) but you could also watch in the order 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6.

That's the big problem with the PT (well one of them).

As Episodes 1 to 3 they don't work, as prequels to the OT they could have worked if they were made better.

A prequel is not the same as earlier episodes of a story because it assumes prior knowledge of the story that comes later so doesn't need to maintain the plot revelations, the writer assumes you have watched the later episodes already.

To truly be Episodes 1 to 3 it would have to approach the story as if episodes 4 to 6 hadn't been made yet.

Thank God this is no Devil May Cry case, at least. I mean, chronologically it's DMC 3, 1, 4, 2 if I'm not mistaken. Just think about it: they make a game, then they make a sequel, then they make a prequel (called part 3, duh! That's so obvious...) and then they make a sequel which is inbetween the first two games...

... I just came to a realization what George, apart from other stuff, borrowed from the Japanese.

Upon doing my own EPISODE II fan edit, on frame-by-frame analysis, the editing of the Anakin-Dooku lightsaber fight in that movie is atrocious!  NOTHING matches from shot-to-shot.  I mean NOTHING!  The movements and positioning of both changes radically, against the laws of time and physics even, in each cut.  These are precisely choreographed fights with them doing the same moves over and over again in every take from every angle - how do you fuck this up?!  And the CGI pasted face of Christopher Lee over his fight/stunt double is really bad.  It's obviously fake.

I wish someone could grab hold of the raw footage, and re-edit it like a competent editor would.  No real way of fixing this, otherwise.  This is ridiculous, and Ben Burtt should be ashamed of himself!

Thanks for the feedback guys...and thanks for the link to JasonN's edit, TV's Frink. Very helpful indeed.

I'll see if I can clarify:

At least for now, I'm not going to bother with TPM. I'm not saying I don't like the ideas presented by Bingowings, but I'm not ready to edit anything from TPM. lol Dooku has lost faith in the Jedi but still uses the force to his advantage. Dooku is honest. No more lies or creating mistrust. Instead it should be obvious what he wants. He knows about the Sith being involved but doesn't believe it will do any good to go after them-

...hmmm that sounds stupid. This is where it's getting frustrating. I don't know if I can really achieve this idea. If he actually does want to go after the Sith to destroy them...why doesn't he? Instead he kidnaps Palps. This isn't logical. But IF I simply cut the line about him wanting to destroy the Sith how will Dooku achieve his goals? And what exactly are his goals? Forgive me, Bingowings, if you've communicated Dookus goals already...it's a bit hard for me to wrap my mind around some of these ideas you've presented. :)

Thanks for reading...hopefully I don't sound too much like an idiot! ;)

How about this for an idea.

Make Dooku seem like the rogue Jedi like you've been talking about.... Keep it going, let him play that part.. Give him a traditional saber color. But then use the original ending where he meets Palpatine to tell him the war has begun. Oh wow. He's not really a rogue Jedi at all. He was working for Sidious this whole time. Ep. 2 needed a twist, so why not let that be it for the audience. The audience always knows more than the characters do. But this whole time the audience believes Dooku is actually good.... And then pow, the end hits them... Then you have permission to allow his kidnapping of Palpatine in 3, because at this point you know they are a working together.

I don't know. Just an idea.

Author
Time

But it begs the question why was he impersonating a Jedi to begin with? He wants Obi Wan to join him, but for what purpose? His reason for trying to convince Obi Wan he's good and that together they can "destroy the sith" is never explained or followed up on. It just shows that George wasn't thinking at all about the characters' motivations when he wrote the script.

That's why, IMO, it's better to make him a rogue Jedi. It's not perfect that way either, as even then, the Jedi refusing to believe him when "he couldn't assassinate anyone. It's not in his character" is stupid.

Unless we can find a way to either give Dooku motivations that make sense for wanting to appear good (but really being evil) or make it more plausible that the Jedi don't believe him (has he tried explaining things to them? What reason have they possibly got to not question everything when he's TELLING them that he's discovered the republic is under Sith control?)

If these things can't be addressed whichever way an editor goes with it, I fear that the prequels will be forever broken.

Author
Time

It is problematic for sure... But Dooku could be simply trying to trick him into joining the Sith... Maybe he feels if he could just get him to join him "to destroy the Sith" then he can begin the brainwashing process... Because the thing about the Sith, every one of them wants their own apprentice. To what? Overthrow their master. Vader did it, not too terribly far fetched to think Dooku would want the same way. He's just sneaky about it.

May still be completely retarded, but it's slightly less than the current state of the film.

Another question that comes up in ROTS is when did Nute start listening to and obeying Sidious again? Or was that another lie from Dooku?

"But he was betrayed ten years ago by the dark lord. He came to me for help. He told me everything."

If so, that line will have to be removed or reworked somehow...so frustrating...

Maybe just cut the lines when he mentions Lord Sidious promised peace... Then it works, because Grevious sent them to Mustafar. And in their minds, he was Dooku's second in command.

One minor issue I had with JasonN's edit was that he left the line in.  There are a few logical explanations for it (I came up with one and he said he was going for a different one) but by removing the line it makes things much clearer.

Again different things between shots..

There are more differences than the 3 i point but is hard to show them..

I always imagined that not building sets or making something 100% CGI would solve continuity errors like this ("who virtually moved my coffee mug and spent hours rendering several frames of it?")

I'm sad that it hasn't. They're virtual sets and virtual props added after the scene has already been edited together! Someone has to work really hard to change things between shots...
