you know for a movie that was going to have the least amount of work done to it for the revisited edits as it was a "perfect movie" there sure is a lot of things being suggested to fix it :-P

Yea, exactly, how much work will be needed to repair ROJ?

With ESB I don't think it fixing much that is broken more that the film is so beautiful in so many ways that Ady wants pay tribute to it by giving it a loving clean and a nice new frame.

As always the Revisited series are an attempt address the problems with the SE not with the theatrical version.

In terms of the OT ROTJ is broken in every version and may actually give Ady a more free canvas to play with than working with the first two films which are held with such high regard.

That said, just look back at the ta'do with "Lando Lives" to see how frustrating changing ROTJ might be in the future.

I agree. I never thought this edit would have gone this far. I originally thought that Ady was just going to color correct, fix the continuity errors, and change some of the problems the SE version caused. Now it's going through some major visual changes, and all of the suggestions that have come along ( with concept pics ) have also made a massive impact. This is edit is kind of approaching a point ( for me at least ) where it loosing it's appeal. While a few of the suggestion have been really cool, alot have been a crazy. Like the latest one where someone wanted leia's "look, Star destroyer"line changed.

I fully agree with you regarding EBS and ROTJ, although killing Lando off in ROTJ is still a mistake in my opinion.

If memory serves, killing Lando was a joke that people took seriously.

I was just explaining the joke to others?

*facepalm*

I agree on that Leia line, btw - I never had a problem with it.

I'm fairly certain it wasn't/isn't a joke and it's a distinct possibility for ROTJ:R.  If Ady wants to do it, there's a whole helluva lotta work to do to get it right.  The least of which is the music cue playing as the Falcon shoots out of the DS2.  The score wouldn't feel right as is if the Falcon gets blowed the eff up before making its escape.  But that's nothing to worry about now. :)

Back to the musings at hand:  I never took issue with the "Star Destroyer." line in the past, but I can't stand the "Two fighters against a Star Destroyer?" line from Hoth.  Man that guy's voice and delivery have always rubbed me the wrong way!

O.T. or No T., baby!

Savage, Ady confirmed himself that it was a joke. Although whether he only said this to stop the bickering on his thread remains to be seen. :-p

Indeed, all the females of the universe would mourn the loss of such a smooth operator.

But I think even the "Two fighters against a star destroyer?" line pales in comparison to the delivery of ROTJ's "Copy, gold leader."

The only line in ESB I'd consider changing is the obvious one that's already being taken care of: the old "Alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival"

I really don't understand why so many people hate that line. Personally, I've always liked it, ever since I was a kid. The pilot sounds so distant and irritated, and that's what I like - it's just how a real pilot would react if some politician-princess starts explaining how he should assault a battleship with a small, frail plane.

Although I do agree on "Copy, Gold Leader". Jeez, man, you're flying hypersonic through an artificial planet-doomsday device, with people shooting behind (at) you!... That guy must have nerves of steel.

While I appreciate that you may disagree with the idea of making a change to that scene I think I gave a well reasoned explanation as to why I would like to see it changed.

A different point of view to yours but hardly crazy.

Crazy would be something like adding an elevator shot into the film and not finishing it so it stands out like a sore thumb or making Vader's saber pink or adding a landing sequence (including footage from the next film) because you think the audience can't connect the perfectly delivered line "Bring my shuttle" to the character moving from one location to another.

Changing or removing a line because it may not convey the impact of a dramatic situation (in my opinion it actually undermines it) is a subjective call to make (and on this project it's not my call) but to explain and suggest it is hardly insanity.

Not to worry Bingowings, the term "Crazy" was just used for theactrics, and not accusing you of being insane.  No one here that I can recall of is actually crazy, just crazed thats all. ;P

In my opinion, that scene is perfect as is.  Don't forget, you had Irvin Kershner as Director on this. Far better than what Lucas could have done if he had directed this himself.   I think Kershner wanted Carrie to play that line of dialog off as natural as she could as Princess Leia during a serious moment. After all she is in charge during the escape from Bespine. Leia is a pretty calm, focused and collective character. A little moody at times but she never plays backseat to anything, even though shes actually sitting in a back seat during that scene. A trait that I think alot of people seem to not notice for some reason.  I doubt Ady makes any change of that type to that scene.

However, Ady could reconstruct that scene visually where the executor appears in some other fashion after she mentions it. One idea would be to have it much further back in the distance, and rapidly getting closer as the Falcon approaches.

Having the Executor as close as it is when she says the line is what the problem is really all about, and not the line itself. Thats what I would be suggesting to ady instead of the line change.

How about it Ady?

Agreed. Make the Destroyer less glaringly obvious and that would solve the 'princess obvious' problem.

It might help but to be honest I think it would possibly work better just to cut it altogether.

It's pretty obvious what's happening without the line.

The delivery of the line itself and the rather zomboid pointing action is the main problem(well it has been for me since I was ten years old) I'm now reminded of this when I see it:

LOL, thats priceless Bingo! If I can make out that scene description, it appears to say "While not a master of intellect, the blatantly obvious things we often take for granted never escape his keen eye" . And the horse looking at the guy as a carrot; this illustrator was very creative.

Anyway, I guess we will have to see whether or not Ady wants to change it.

The horse is not delusional, the guy really is wearing a giant carrot mask with flames on top and green flippers (in case he has to swim) for he is Flaming Carrot.
