For those of you not familiar with Jamaica, Queens - I can tell you there's no way I would have stopped to help.  That's a really rough area for crime & drugs.  I used to pass through that train station every day because I had to switch trains there.  I was fine up on the platform, but the streets below were ugly - Bronx burned out buildings & cars ugly.

One day I fell asleep on the train and missed the Jamaica stop, so  I had to get off at the next stop - the LIRR employees stop just outside of Jamaica.  I had to walk back through Jamaica to get to the station.  I was openly approached twice to buy, and also had some very rough looking characters yelling shit at me from across the street. I ducked into a bodega to ask for directions and the guy completely ignored me. Guess they didn't get many white fellas walking through at 6:30 AM (I worked night shift for several years).  I eventually got off the street and walked along the tracks all the way back to the Jamaica station.

I made it back to the Jamaica station, with my heart racing and my beard iced-over (it was January), and caught my usual train to the Five Towns.

Like I said - no way in hell I'm stopping to help or getting involved in the first place, not in Jamaica.  Sorry, but dying for an ungrateful stranger isn't the right thing to do for my family.
