J. Williams & LSO, The EMPIRE STRIKES BACK AUDIOPHILE EDITION - Restored & Remastered Score (Released) — Page 7

Sorry Ripplin. I haven't post such thing anywhere else than the "recreating" part of the forum and only Frink faces is responsabilities chosing to post this here, out of the original context. Melting his own *sense of humor* in a thread that has nothing to do with it is his choice, not mine... Whatever the words are originally mine or not.

Be sure Frink knew exactly what he was doing posting that in "my" thread(despite he does the innocent guy who would have been fooled). So, I propose you go and have a discussion with him guys because I'm sure he know enjoys the consequences... Not cool for anybody in the end, uh ?

Oh bullshit.  I was 99.9999% sure it was a joke (and one in poor taste at that), but there was always a chance (no matter how slight) that your wife really was posting to let us know you had suffered a heart attack.  Many of us (yourself included) remember the guy who posted the cool star wars mix on youtube only to remove it and cryptically say something about hanging himself.  There was never any news on that - was it real?  I certainly didn't want to make fun of that.

How awful would I looked (and felt) if I made fun of you and "Ms. ABC" and it turned out you really did have a heart attack?

Just because my thread is a "joke thread," it doesn't mean you aren't responsible for what you post in it.  If you don't want this stuff in your thread, stop bringing it into mine.

(my apologies Ripplin for my part in this)

I even haven't contested. Of course you waited for me at the turn to post your "sillyness" in there. No problem, that's fair. But just watch the costs. Nobody would have reacted the way our fellows did where it has been posted. Never forget the context.

Alrighty then, let's just put this incident behind us now and concentrate on the audio goodness. :)

Ooops, yep. Thanks ;)

Upon reflection, I probably shouldn't have posted here.  My apologies to readers of the thread.

What kind of person would play with people's emotions so callously?

Back on topic, I guess...

Oooh! Ooooh! I know! I know! Pick me!

ABC would!!!

I don't know, when I first read it I burst out laughing, sure it was a joke, then felt kind of bad I laughed thinking it might be real, then decided it didn't really matter one way or another.

You just about had me worried there. It's bad enough that guy who made a music video in fan edits just disappeared and possibly committed suicide without ABC having a heart attack.

As for the samples, despite the distortions and age of the recordings they sound better than most of my CD's. There's almost no comparison to the existing releases. I have nothing bad to say about them. Not a useful post, but it's a very well put together piece of work this.

Thanks BMB,

First don't worry for the guy, he wouldn't have taken care to remove its avatar 12 hours after if he was really ready to left his life behind.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I don't understand why do you think it's not useful to give one when it is the main purpose of this thread, or of any thread. Besides, without them I would feel a bit - or completely - like being said "release your stuff and shut the f**k up"... Notably when I notice the thread has been viewed about 1000 or 2000 times since I posted samples...

Ok, so here's reported my last post before we went to discuss off topic, perhaps it'll make things clearer...

... Sorry for the "specialized" discussions. It's not that much the purpose of the thread, though it may be helpful to deal with a few remaining details.

If anyone want to share their point about the few samples and the work as presented here (or even on the ones presented before), they're more than welcome whatever it is positive or not.

Besides I'm begining to wonder a lot on how much this work and its value are beeing seen here on OT.com, and if it really "contributes" to the preservation of these Master-Pieces, or to the quality of their restitution. What I'm sure about, is that no feedbacks contribute not to preserve it at all. But if this thread doesn't work it's no problem.

Perhaps such a restoration and remastering as presented here, by someone who developped its abilities as an aside with great simplicity of ways and approach looks more like spreading what Moth3r calls... the "Fuckwit factor"?! That would suck, for sure.

A mess, having myself no doubt anymore on the solidity of the resulting piece and imagining that if such a thread would be seen by LFL for instance - as they surely don't ignore OT.com -, from a "marketing" point of view it makes obvious one thing: bringing the OT scores to a superior level of rendition is finally of very, very little interest.

Well this is my last post for a time anyway. I felt it was of a great interest to present the project here, and it finally helped me to present it in a more professional way - thinking about the liner notes, the technical language etc... (as I can see there are big is lacks in my intro posts).

I will change the OP in a few days to sum up in a better way is intented in this virtual edition, and will give a more convenient synthetic vision of the remixing details (post 2). I'll advert the change in the thread title...

Now, don't force yourseves, just if you like both the project and ist sound, please speak your hearts. ;)

See ya'

If LFL really wanted to do something about things like this, they would. But they also know we've bought multiple copies of the soundtracks. I have 3 or 4 versions and that's nothing compared to some people.

Your set is GREATLY appreciated. Though I still own it, there's no point in listening to the SE versions anymore. Please remember that and keep us in mind when you feel the project is ready to be released.

Upon even more reflection, I realized I didn't actually apologize to ABC in this thread (though I have done so elsewhere).

ABC, I apologize for posting what I did in your thread.

No worries. "What" you have posted won almost as much reactions than the samples and comparisons I have posted in the OP!

In the end I think it's gonna save my time... (Comprenne qui pourra!).

Just saw the 4/26 post and updated thread title and am happy for you that you've completed the audio at long last!  Whenever you're ready to release the project in its entirety, please keep me in mind.  This is one of my most anticipated media releases of the year!

Take care.

I am really looking forward to this. It's what George would have done before he was abducted by aliens.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Is Lucas really to blame for the SE music? Partially, maybe, but I've always thought he was sort of "whatever" about it and let Burtt and his cronies do everything mess it up.

I think the bigger problem is GL is "whatever" about everything Star Wars related... :o

That's why we need the talented fans such as ABC and Adywan to release the stuff most fans would gladly buy if released officially.

He's ultimately responsible for everything in the SE, right?  Even if he let subordinates mess it up, he's still responsible for their work.

Count me in on the waiting list. Every one of restorations so far has been top-notch, I can't wait to hear this!

Oh, and thanks for planning for a B&W simplified cover and booklet. :)
