Raiders of the Lost Ark question for the old timers...

My father and I were watching RotLA a little while back.

During the scene with Indy jumping on the U-boat and the sloppy transition to the Nazi base, I asked if he remembered a scene in there with Indy using his whip to lash himself to the periscope and riding to the base that way.  He thought he did.

Googling around it sounds like it may have existed... or not?

Both of us had originally seen this film in theaters when it came out, numerous times on HBO and such, VHS, and of course DVD.

So the question is: does this scene exist?  Was it ever part of the film?  If it's doesn't exist... what movie are we thinking of?!?

The only change I know of for the DVD was that they removed the cobra's reflection in the glass when Indy's face to face with it down in the tomb. I mean, I know it was a blooper to begin with, but I was still kind of sad to see it go. :\

I remember seeing a bit of that footage on some Raiders/Indy "making of" special.  Maybe your dad saw it there.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

When I sat down and watched Raiders on DVD, I thought they had removed the infamous "grab his hat from under the closing stone door" bit.  I WAS SHOCKED!  Then my brother reminded me that it was in Temple of Doom instead.  I made him prove it, then I believed him.  :)

How could you not know that?     I suppose you think the scene where indy shoot the swordsman was in the Last Crusade?

Doctor M, the scene you're thinking of is only in the Alan Dean Foster novelisation, although there is a "Lost Cut" where in the final shot Indy and Marion both leap into hyperspace right before the final credits.
