I don't know if its avaible in USA, so I think I post it here, if its not:

A bonus of the german Double DVD Edition of the van Damme Movie "Until Death" is the 30 min Short Movie "Monaco Forever". The first Movie van Damme played in. He has just a short sequence, but I think its a nice piece of van Damme History...

The Rocketeer would be an interesting project, see that is why I like this thread,it is hard to know what is different all over.

I love that movie so much! (what did you mean by "project" specifically, though?) I love this thread, too. ;) I've learned a fair amount already.

One release that is quite different is the animated version of The Tick. In North America, we only have the first two seasons, and each of those is missing an episode. ("The Tick vs. The Mole-Men" on S1 and "Alone Together" on S2) However...in Region2land, you can get the complete series!

As far as I know there is no DVD of the movie "The Human Shield" (with Michael Dudikoff) released in USA.

There is a DVD release in Sweden with Fullscreen and English 2.0 Audio.

(I don't know where to get it, here is an image.)

In France there seem to exist two DVDs, one with english Audio and one without it. The movie is called "Le Bouclier Humain" in France.

The DVDs from Germany and Belgium are just Bootlegs, containing english Audio. The picture quality of the german bootleg is stated to be "good". The German Title of this Movie is "Marine Fighter".

Maybe one of the DVDs could be used for a PAL to NTSC conversion, if someone could get it hands on it.

Regarding "The Fall" from director Tarsem Singh, 2006 :

Maybe the cover is true, I don't know, but the German 3 Disc Limited Collector's Edition (BluRay and DVD). states that it contain "worldwide exclusive":

- uncut "Dream Sequenz" from Christoph and Wolfgang Lauenstein (running about 1,5 min. with some introduction in german)

- Short Movie "Balance" from Christoph and Wolfgang Lauenstein (running about 7 min.)

- Audio commentary to Dream Sequence and Short Movie.

The uncut Dream Sequenz is not in Hd, and just on the additional DVD. (The set consists of one BD and two DVDs. The BD contains the Movie, on DVD Contains the Movie and the other DVD the extras.

Yeah, but I think it will be hard getting hands on a LD. And because I am not from USA it would be some ways harder, and more expensive.

I got someway the german bootleg, and the image is kinda okay. Seen worse. But I would prefer an original disc with englishc and german audio. (I am from germany, and such movies i just know in german since youth, so its kinda reminding to watch it in german..)

A at the moment I try to get my hands someway on the Japanese DVD of "Red Scorpion" with Dolph Lundgren, but its really hard to get :( Japan is currently the only country where it is released in the unrated way, with englisch audio...

I don't know if this fits here, but the austria BD of "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" (1974) has a slight different image quality than the US Disc. The US disc is used with more dnr, so the AT Disc has more grain, and seems to be a bit brighter. So the US Disc seems to loose some details in dark areas.

I just picked up Biohazard Trilogy from Japan for the extended version of Biohazard Apocalypse, and also ordered King Kong 1976 from Australia.

The BD is Region B ! :(

The DVDs are region 2

I own it. It is not cheap ( I paid about 28 € at the moment about $ 38 .. without any shipping fees.), because its a limited Edition (5000 cp.)

It contains the BD, a DVD with me Movie and a DVD with Bonus features.

The BD and DVD version contain the known two commentary tracks with german subtitles.

Bonus Features on the Bonus DVD:

- documentations: "The Shocking Truth", "Flesh Wounds" and "Off the Hook"

- deleted scenes, outtakes and bloopers

- trailer (US and german) and us-tv and radio spots

- "The Shocking Truth" outtakes

- tour trough the TCM house with Gunnar Hansen

..so the bonus features are from the US 2 Disc Edition (except the german trailers)

I don't know if "Turbine Medien" will release a single disc edition soon, which should be alot easier and bit cheaper to get.

This edition is still avaible (as I said.. without shipping, its about $ 38.. I don't know any shipping fees to where you live) and I still could get it from an online shop.

EDIT: The UK BD release seems to been somewhere between the US and the AT Discs regarding grain and brightness. (Comparison between US and UK Disc here)

The UK Disc is not very expensive at amazon.co.uk.

EDIT 2 (2010-04-19):

The DVD in the AT limited Box even seems a bit brighter and a bit sharper than the US "Ultimate Edition" regarding to this DVD comparrison

Maybe this fits also here:

UK has "SALO or 120 Days of Sodom" on BluRay. Compared to the US Criterion DVD it is uncut (the US Disc misses one Scene).

There is also a DVD release in UK from the same master as the BluRay, but I don't know how the DVD lokks like.

Here is an image comparison (at caps-a-holic) between the UK BD and the US Criterion Disc.

The BluRay ist Region B and the DVD is PAL.

This is the list of the Special Features:

Disc one (DVD and Blu-ray) - Sal

* Complete and uncut, re-mastered from original Italian restoration negatives
* Original Italian language version (with optional English subtitles)
* Original English language version (with optional subtitles for the hearing-impaired)
* Original Italian trailer (with optional English subtitles)
* Coil - Ostia (the Death of Pasolini) The original 1986 track from Coil's celebrated
second album, Horse Rotorvator, with a newly created video accompaniment, shot
especially for this release by Peter Christopherson

Disc two (standard def PAL DVD disc, included in both DVD & Blu-ray editions)

* Open Your Eyes! (2008, 21 mins)
Newly created on-set documentary using full colour footage shot in 1974 by
acclaimed film journalist and Pasolini expert Gideon Bachmann.
* Walking with Pasolini (Roberto Purvis, 2008, 21 mins)
New documentary exploring the meaning and impact of Pasolini's film, with Neil
Bartlett, David Forgacs, Noam Chomsky and Craig Lapper (Chief Examiner, BBFC).
* Whoever Says the Truth Shall Die (1981, 58 mins) Philo Bregstein's classic
documentary on the life and death of Pier Paolo Pasolini.
* Fade to Black (Nigel Algar, 2001, 24 mins)
Documentary with Mark Kermode exploring the ongoing relevance and power of
Pasolini's controversial masterpiece, with Bernardo Bertolucci and other leading
directors.
* Ostia (Julian Cole, 1991, 25 mins, with optional director commentary track) Cole's
rarely seen short film about the last days of Pasolini, starring Derek Jarman.

Again some infos from europe...

..the 2009 movie "Halloween II" from Rob Zombie seems to be only avaible as DC in USA.

The UK BD instead is Region Coded B and contains only the Theatrical Version.

The austrian region B 'limited uncut edition' (limited to 3000 copies) contains BOTH versions on one disc.

Ok, this is kind of old news really but Escape From New York has the original Dolby stereo track included on many R2 DVD's. The 5.1 re-mix included on the MGM Special Edition is horrible and completely f***ed up. I did my own custum DVD with the original audio wich was very easy cause the R2 comes with the same transfer. (LD audio would be a even better alternative though)

The new european release of Suspiria on blu-ray and DVD has a questionable colortimed transfer with a newly re-mixed audio track that's supposed to be very good but not perfect as one line of dialouge in it is supposed to be missing.

I've found a spanish DVD of Suspiria that have the original english 4.0 audio mix downconverted to Dolby 2.0 and the audio on that disc got some good comments in this review:

http://www.zonadvd.com/modules.php?name=Reviews&rop=showcontent&id=196

Have any Suspiria fan heard if it's any good? I have the old Anchor Bay disc which have a wonderful transfer imo. but I can't stand the remixed audio tracks on it.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

On the austrian limited uncut edition both versions have a size about 20 GB, its a double layer BD. The Bonus Features are on a DVD. AFAIK the bonus are almost the same features as on the us disc.

It has german subtitles.

NO english SUBTITLES.

here is the link to the german ofdb. Page of it (They also have a internet shop)

here is an austrian shop.

Its important to get the BD from the lable "Illusions unlimited."

If you wish I can try to snap some screenshots from the austrian BD, so you may check quality.

The UK release could be easily get by the UK amazon store here

The UK release with the theatrical release is way cheaper.

EDIT:

the austrian store also has the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 Disc limited Edition I mentioned some posts above.

Thank you so much for the links, but are you positive the UK version is Theatrical? I did not see it mentioned any where, LOL I guess I should look at runtime.

so how much is the Austrian version? could not see a price, do you live by a store that carries that 2 disc BD set?

I know there are not any King Kong 1976 fans here, but I must say that the Australian Blu-ray of KK 76 looks and sounds friggin great, and was not expensive at all.

Where I live I will never see this discs in a store ;) its for sale in austra and switzerland only.

In germany we only have strong cutted Halloween II releases.

The price of the 2 Disc Bd Set is about € 30 (about $38) at the stores I linked. (Its shown right near the title, above the specs.

Here are the specs of the UK BD. Runtime 105:29 Min. (96:40 Min. o.A.)

And here is a detailed german comparison between the TC and the DC.

(Sorry, that I did not have english links with such stuff ;) )
