I actually had another idea for that scene:

To make Padme a little more human once the battle starts: cut her jumping on that animal and riding it with anakin in the drivers seat. instead, once the battle begins, show the cart falling over and Padme running to immediatly take cover in it. I know Lucas wanted to make her strong in battle...but really? she's just gonna shoot at anything and expect the Jedi to cover her? not very clear thinking. She should take cover wherever she can. You could then show anakin seeing her in the cart and he could then run over to protect her from there. make sense?
