I always liked TMP because it did focus so much on the detailed production design. I was into the look of the new Enterprise, and when it came out, it was so great on the big screen.  But the story always was a major drag. Star Trek II truly rekindled my childhood love for the franchise, and I was so glad they improved the sets and some of the uniforms from the first film, rather then re-do it all again.
